Early impressions: the game feels exactly the same as 16, with minor cosmetic additions. The individual and team leveling up in EASHL is pretty neat, though. e: Beta is out already, btw

Poke checking is bad. Body checking doesn't work right. Passing is worse. AI is super-overpowered. Puck pick-ups aren't changed. I'm sure others can add to this.

Oh, forgot to include that the game will arbitrarily (and noticeably) slow down your player while you are skating on a breakaway or attempting to skate away from players chasing you.

I saw a quick game of NHL THREES being streamed, and besides the terrible paintjob to the rink, the terrible new "Arcade" commentary, and that gimmick mode, the actual gameplay looked exactly the same.
