Season 2 of Sonic Prime was excellent. My only complaints is that it's a shame that Rouge was always the straight man of the group no matter which verse they went to and Big was just kinda there for the entire series.

I hope Thorn inspires Rusty and Black Rose to make their own hammers too.

Any time stuff like that pops up I just assume it's part of that weird Ken Penders lawsuit thing. Maybe I'm just out of the loop but I think none of the games have been related to the comics at all? I feel like that doesn't help things since there's no landmarks, areas, reoccurring characters or anything to really familiarize yourself with game to game.

Personally my ideal Sonic game is like, Sly 2 or 3 where everyone you play that isn't Sonic/Shadow or Blaze has their own specialty and there's no Adventure/Battle 2 Chaos Emerald hot or cold gameplay.

I used to be a lot harder on Sonic Heroes in the past because I did not like item hunting missions as Team Chaotix because it's done annoyingly. It's not 'collect enough of these abundant items to finish the level like collecting rings in Casino Park' it's 'Collect every single one of these things that there's only just enough of to finish the mission. Run through the level again and again until you find all of them.' That and how long Team Dark's levels got at the end. Considering how repetitive the levels were since you had to do them 4 times, 5 minutes is already way too long for any level to be, let alone 10-16 minutes for the last Egg Carrier level for them.

But after reading how the development went and how Takashi Iizuka was the only level designer available and working himself to death since the other guy got too sick to come into work and help I can cut it a lot of slack even if I do not enjoy playing any levels past Grand Metropolis because of how much the rest of the game becomes riding rails and bottomless pits broken up by splitting up the team to find switches.

The development of Heroes was a real shame because stylistically it was such a great modernisation of the classic formula. I would love to see a proper remake or remaster or just a return to the idea for a second try.

I wish that was what remasters were more often. I'd love to know how the story was supposed to work with Metal Sonic being a playable character in it.

I'm not sure where to even find a legit source for it at this point. But my favorite story about the development of Heroes was the team's internal debate about if Shadow was dead or not after SA2. I think he would have been better off as a one-shot character. But I at least like what they have been trying to do with correcting the character direction in Forces. That DLC story was the first time I actually liked him in a while. But then I hear in the comics and other current stuff he's just very wasted potential, and not allowed to really be his own thing anymore. So I guess I'm back to thinking he would have been better not coming back.

Yeah, I heard that same story from a podcast. As someone who's only familiar with Shadow from the video games and Sonic Prime objectively I can't see much appeal because he's kinda hard to get a read on as a character. He was a villain for 95% of SA2, trapped in the indecisive moral choice game design era for Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic 06 was rushed 3 years ahead of schedule, Sonic and the Black Knights was a spin-off etc. I can't get a read on the guy! He's the only other hedgehog that can go Super if they ever want to do that, and that's about all I got!

I thought the conflict is that Sega wants Shadow to be early series Vegeta who only wants to fight strong people and doesn't care for making friends (so, Bass from Megaman), while most of the fans (including those working on modern Sonic if we're being honest) want him to be late series Vegeta who is a jerk with a heart of gold.

Another unsourced claim I heard; Writers tried giving Shadow anything cool, fun, or interesting to fight the Zomboids tactically besides running in and getting owned and SEGA kept turning every suggestion down until they were like 'Okay, he charges in punches them and then gets infected' and that's the one that got approved.

I can take him or leave him these days but to me Shadow is emblematic of the stupid self serious poo poo SA2 tried to inject into the series. Try explaining his backstory to yourself, it’s embarrassing. Metal Sonic has the decency to just be Sonic but Robotnik’s bad version of him. That’s all you need.

I think Regular Show is a fun ridiculous cartoon and I enjoy how cute Kirby is vs the scenarios and curses that're going on in that series' background. I'm fine with the talking hedgehog and his various bipedal animal friends opposing the evil scientist. That's Crash Bandicoot and Ratchet and Clank's dynamic as well for example. I just have a hard time understanding Shadow's whole deal as a character because he's different every 2 games.

Didn't even spend 20 chapters with Sonic's ghost possessing everyone's dreams and telling them 'Yo don't burn my body, I can still get back in that husk!' just went right to the resurrection like it's the Death of Superman. SMH

Probably a lukewarm take at this point but I think Sonic needs more spinoff games . If there were a regular competitive series like Sonic Riders or Sonic Racing, I wonder if they'd care about putting comic characters or like, The Babylon Rogues or Sticks in if it's just a party game like that instead of a mainline thing.

Sonic Battle showed that the base design can't keep you from designing unique attack animations for it, and Sonic's got enough of a roster for it so I say go for it. People like Kirby enough to justify Star Allies existing and bringing everyone back to be playable, I don't see the harm in it!

Here's the thing. There's already a ton of character bloat in the modern series. I don't want to be the one that gets blamed for wishing for more of it. I'm keeping things simple. Also I don't need them turning her into another Infinite.

I haven't kept up with anything past Sonic Riders so I'm not the key audience here but I would personally love for them to have an actual consistent world they exist in with some landmarks as well since every game they bounce to a new location and even if they're usually simple Saturday Morning Cartoon plots I feel like they're still more concerned with their stories compared to like, Mario or Crash Bandicoot at least.

I feel like I haven't actually made an actual point; They should put characters in the comics into the video games and have them interact in a generally consistent world. What is the point of having a large cast if you don't do anything with them? You run past Cream and & Vanilla's house and see Gemerl there playing with both of their Chao and Cream with no idea who that robot is or why they're not hostile. This would kill the brand because...?

I might be misunderstanding if this was directed at what I was saying or not. And I'm probably misunderstanding your post entirely. So I'm sorry in advance if I am.

With your example, yeah, Gemerl would just be a background thing for fans to point at. And that's fine. They can bring comic characters in too. I don't know how an alt skin concept is any different from something like that.

I was more focused on the character bloat part of your post because I don't think it matters that much. Sonic's been around for 30 years, even excluding the Ken Penders Knuckles reskins, they've got like a hundred characters they could use, probably multiple hundreds depending on who could be put in a video game between the 8 different comic books and the movies. So a new character shows up in Sonic game, it's not like any other sequel reuses the exact same cast as the previous one down to the background extras/NPCs.

Considering the way they've made the movies to begin with, it's not that incredible an idea to believe. After the robot crashes and nobody finds his body, they could easily leave him out of the third movie if they wanted. Or they can bring him back, either decision works fine.

They'll try, but Shadow will deflect all the bullets and tragically, she'll be stuck in a broken airlock or something and he won't be able to save her or another less visceral way of implying she died. It's probably not gonna anything close to a Mortal Kombat gun Fatal Blow or even Bambi's mom dying.

Amy has literally one proper scene with Shadow and a minor one mistaking him for Sonic then running away, they are definitely just replacing her with the human cast for that. Otherwise she just hangs around in the background for the entire game, and unless they give her a major rewrite that's all she'd end up doing in the movie as well.

I guess they could surprise me there but I imagine there'll be enough going on without them adding another character, and if they're adding anyone besides Shadow then it has to be Rouge.

True, but you've still gotta give her credit though, she somehow got to Prison Island before Tails and I don't think she even has a homing attack or light speed dash.
