I had this cool idea that 4 could be the movie based on the events of the first game as told by Frank, and now I've already set myself up for disappointment :(

Another problem I had with 3 is a lot of missions required you to find specific items, but the massive map made it impossible to find one item in particular.

After I finished Genocider and Karate Master I went topside and started messing around with weapons i never bothered with and discovered that plates are actually a pretty decent weapon. I beat Carlito in the food court with them really easily then went and murdered the convicts with them.

CDs are still pretty poo poo, they're good for knocking zombies away from survivors but they require like three headshots to kill a zombie.

I tried to swap some weapons around with survivors outside of Seon's and accidentally dropped both mini chainsaws and then entered Seon's and despawned both of them upon entry. Fun way to instantly kill a run :v:

Is Frank Rising supposed to be a light remake of DR1 or something? "Freshly Infected" Frank would be in Dr1, wouldn't it?

You'd think, but the description also implies it's not his first tangle with zombies.

I think whoever wrote that description never beat DR1

A) He's not a "fresh dev." He's been a producer since 1998.

B) "Producer" in the video game industry means "office manager." You coordinate teams, keep things moving, form a line of useful communication between workers and management, and make sure everyone's on the same page. He's someone you'd want to have talking about the game to the press, because he'd know everything about it due to being in a central position, but he's not primarily responsible for creative decisions. He was probably in the room when they were made and he'd probably have something to say about how realistic a given idea actually is, but he's not the director, writer, or lead programmer.

The bearded moron is the director

If there are no psychopaths, no survivors, and no time limit, what is there? Just sandbox mode basically?

It's got a story :effort:

No psychopaths is the worst part. One of my favorite things about this series is walking to a certain spot and having a ridiculous cutscene play out. Even 3 looks like it did a great job on that end.

Extremely this. Removing the time limit and escorts for a wider appeal is justifiable, but removing psychopaths is just lazy.

The only problem I had with DR1's AI was trying to get them on the vent ledge. Even the survivors that are flagged as wussies are easy to corral if you spam the shout.

The problem with handguns is they have no stopping power, it takes a handful of shots to drop one zombie and none of the shots with knock them back at all. SMGs are much better at keeping them away and are easily available if you know where they are.

I actually prefer dragging survivors without waypoints since it lets you mash "COME ON", which resets whatever animation they're in and forces them to move. I only like using waypoints for having them hold an area or to send them across the park while I defend the stragglers.

Which doesn't help in DR4 because it's an older version of the parasite, and is the breed that wiped out Carlito's hometown.

Every new retcon I hear about is dumber than the first

At least DR3 built it's dumb story in top of 1 and 2, these writers behind 4 can't write anything clever but still feel the need to go back and fix DR1's plot.
