So according to Facebook, it is interesting and informative for me to know that Hillary is mocking Putin for "manspreading." I'm afraid to look and see if she brought it up, or was asked about it.

Technically, Hillary is a brand.

Here's a specific article in case the Facebook link doesn't share well.

I wish it was otherwise because I think the taboo around it only hurts the victims and leaves society as a whole unprepared to deal with the issue all together.

i was going to say that only they and specialists such as child psychologists are able to even talk about the subject without being extremely creepy, but i guess technically literature and film legitimately deal with the subject

so i'm going to go with "creepy af outside of a thread dedicated to a relevant work, author, or other topic."

It's a relational strategy which kids attempt to use to get what they want. I'm really not sure what is wrong with calling it "experimenting," most of what a preschooler does can accurately be described that way.

Well, not dismembering frogs as the case may be. But there was a line to be drawn as to what I could be unspeakably cruel to and, in my case, I consciously drew it at adorable tree frogs.

under other circumstances, fielding a viable woman as a candidate right after the first black president would have been a good thing; after obama made it clear that symbolic victories were all the dems have to offer (and even the gay marriage victory was as much despite them as because of them) i think it may have blunted the impact to offer another "first" who was even less likely to create meaningful change than the last one.

The significant change between 6 and 7 had nothing to do with cutscenes, which took up maybe 1/10000th of the total playtime; or even the switch to 3d, which did not actually change the mechanics of the games in any way.

What did change was the character designer, from a notable artist who drew everyone as ethereal heroin fiends to one who drew everyone as members of j-rock boy bands.

This is all irrelevant to the best game in the series, Tactics.

The Institute could create whole genetically identical human beings from scratch, but instead of using that technology to make replacement organs and revolutionize medicine, they use it to make slaves. They could turn Kellogg into a cyborg Methuselah, but couldn't cure your son's cancer - because he said that they shouldn't pursue the research that made Kellogg what he was. So your son has an ethical issue with creating cyborg thugs, but not with murdering people and replacing them with biologically identical slaves.

And replacing people with replicants made no sense at all. The Institute is cloistered group of scientists that seek to cut themselves off from the outside world, but they draw as much attention to themselves as possible in the worst possible way - and replacing people with snyths has no real end goal. Replacing the leaders of wasteland communities to control their internal politics makes sense, but they're also doing the same thing to complete nobodies for no apparent reason.

Never played it, but I'm surprised that you of all people can't figure out why a cyborg god cult leader would be all fygm about research into the technology that made him a cyborg god.

I'm hesitant to accept the idea that something having been a medical term at some point automatically makes it offensive. Like, moron was used for about a decade in the early 20th Century for patients whose mental disability was considered to have halted their development at around the ages 7-9. It was chosen due to being Greek for "fool," and oddly the word oxymoron is several centuries older in English use. It also corresponds to no specific condition and is completely obsolete as a medical term.

Likewise, idiot was used in around the 14th century in legal, rather than medical terminology, to denote someone born with a mental disability, as opposed to lunatic, which meant someone who was considered to have acquired one in the course of their lives. It derives from Greek as well, meaning "ordinary" and later, "uneducated person." In the early 20th Century it was used briefly to denote serious mental disability, from the same system of classification by mental age which coined this use of "moron." In this case however, the authors of that system were just utilizing an English word also used in a more general sense by, for example, Shakespeare.

The very same system shifted the meaning of "imbecile" from a physical to mental disability.

The dishonesty of saying that these terms may be offensive because they were used as part of an obsolete system of classification which was not of diagnostic utility makes me rather choleric; I hope no posters have conditions which may at one time have been diagnosed according to the system of the four humours, lest I give offense with this term!

By way of contrast, stupor is a current medical term, which implies that the word "stupid" is far more offensive than any of these.
