While they're all good in different ways, you should probably start with 4U. It's the first game to have tutorial quests for each weapon, and has cat-friends instead Cha Cha.

I'm really loving this LP, but it's also making me really glad I started with 4U. Is all water combat that bad, or is Gobul just a special case?

I'm sorry, but Lagi's electric bullshit requires attention even in Generations. He might be less tedious and bullshit, but will stick absolutely wreck if given an ounce of complacency.
