I only make repros of unreleased games that don't work on flashcarts. So far I have Star Fox 2 and english Lagrange Point. I am considering making an english repro of Marvelous next.

I thought the N8 worked with VRC7/Lagrange Point?

Not fully, the expansion audio is not implemented. Only with a Hi-def NES can it play with audio since the hi-def implements its own exp channels.

Yes, The Zektor ZVG vector generator can output a fork of MAME meant for vector games. I don't know how they perform and are a bit pricey around $200 and only occasionally show up for sale.

I've actually soldered a dozen or so capacitors that small , but that doesn't mean I want to do it for fun.

I recently recapped my Game Gear with a console5 cap kit and it wasn't too bad. Since the old caps are laying on their side, I just used side-cutters on the legs above the pads and twisted the caps off. Then I wiped the legs off with the iron, cleaned the pads, trim new cap legs to length, tinned the pads so that the new cap legs just flow to the pads while the cap is on its side like the original.

Time consuming, sure but as long as you cut above the pads, pretty low risk.

It is really the crappy green dyed CD-Rs that should be avoided.

Finished Ys III on the SNES a couple of nights ago. It's not bad but has the look and feel of an 8-bit game ported to a 16-bit system. Makes sense I guess since it originally came out in '89.

I ended up cheating with the debug code because that last boss is seriously tedious. Just glad I didn't bork the game entirely because I'd initially tried the invincibility code on the SNES Game Genie and it screwed up the latest save such that the graphics in Redmont were a jumbled mess. Like I've heard that a Game Genie can ruin your games but I'd never seen an effect linger after it was removed like this, and never seen anything so bad with an official code vs just punching in random letters and seeing what happens.

It is remarkable how much better the 3D remake of 3, Oath in Felghana is and no wonder they remade it. The original felt like they were cribbing Zelda 2 with transitioning to side-scrolling from top down and it just doesn't feel right. (Granted Adventure of Link took it much better)

e: if anything it is almost as if Ys III started out as a Sorcerian game.

I stupidly bought one a few years ago without knowing how bad it was and now the colors aren't correct until after a minute or so of being on. I really need that thing stripped out and replaced with a modern board that isn't covered in a fire hazard.

Thankfully i did not get the region mod version.

I can confirm (with all the Sega Smilebit games) that if you install the games to the HDD, they all work with this patch on a 1.6: http://theisozone.com/downloads/xbox/trainers-patches-saves/xbox-16-480p-fix/

I few years ago I tried to play through the Myst series in order. I stalled out halfway through Riven.

As I recall, it's Myst IV: Revelations that's a pain to get. Not that it's particularly expensive, just that your choices are the less locatable PC releases (not on any of the usual online sites) or the Xbox version. All of the other games are on Steam and Gog, it's just that one that's not.

Also, Uru definitely counts as a "main game", so there's six games in the series.

Exile is also hard to find that I just happened to find at a Goodwill for $2 sealed a few weeks ago. Only Myst Riven and End of Ages are available digitally for the mainline. Exile and Revelations are owned by Ubisoft.

I have one and it's pretty great. It is easier to use than what the instructions would imply. There is a menu ISO (GDmenu:http://www.mediafire.com/download/xb9of8cgqophx35/GDmenu_v0.6(24-08-2016).zip) that can load at the beginning and gives you a full GUI menu. There is also an app that builds the SD card with ease that does the folder and file formatting for you here: https://assemblergames.com/threads/unofficial-deunans-gdemu-thread.57247/. In addition in the OP of that thread is a script that lets you shrink ISOs down to squeeze as much as you can. I have nearly the entire US library outside of a few sports games on a 128GB SD card.
