I only speak English but it's all you need across Europe, even if the other person only speaks their native language. All you need to do is speak louder and put on an accent and they understand you fine. For example, in France : EXCUSEZ MISSURE, WHEREZ LE TRAIN STATION SEE VU PLATT... YOU KNOW, *CHOO CHOO*? Works fine for me.
