If you can find some way to artificially induce an increased attention span/appreciation for pretty colors, that'll help.

Delores Claiborne is a third. King is about characters and their interactions, it works gloriously well on screen.

Full Metal Jacket is split into 2 very distinct acts because the film is about the contradictory nature of man. Kubrick literally tells the audience what the film is about when Pvt. Joker says "I guess i was trying to say something about the duality of man.". If you don't appreciate the 2nd half of the film you're not getting the full experience.

Whatever the intent was the second half of the film isn't as enjoyable or interesting to me.

The first half represents Order, the second half Chaos. Of course the 2nd half of the movie isn't going to be as enjoyable or consistent.

lol the parts in the boot camp would have absolutely no context without seeing the guys in action.

they are inhuman pieces of poo poo, and the only one with any redemption is an "animal" and carries around a gigantic belt fed machine gun.

If these forums have taught me anything it's that passive-aggressively mocking everything is a good and noble thing.

Why do girls pretend to like A Clockwork Orange

Yeah why would they like a movie where a violent rapist goes to jail, gets tortured and experimented on, is completely shunned by society and his loved ones, gets found by one of his victims who enacts revenge, then has a psychological breakdown and tries to kill himself.

Also because it's a great movie.

Yeah you can always tell who is a piece of poo poo by how much they respect and admire the psychotic dehumanizing drill sergeant.
It's even funnier when they hire him for insurance commercials.
