From a legal point of view, it's unlikely that the U.S. government would be able to enforce censorship on video games that are produced, distributed, and purchased by private entities and individuals. Games are considered art and computer code is generally considered to be speech, which means both are protected under the First Amendment. Any restrictions therefore would be subject to strict scrutiny oversight from the courts, which imposes a very high burden on the government to show such restrictions are necessary. Governmental restrictions that attempt to limit First Amendment freedoms are almost always found to be unconstitutional by the courts.
