Welcome to Minnesota, last free bastion of the reliable rural white Democratic voter in America! I like Al! You like Al! Everybody likes Al! He's America's pal! Even Lizard People count for Al! he is the motherfucking terminator at calltime This is Justice Klobuchar. When Ted Cruz shut down the government, she reopened it. This is MN Governor Mark Dayton, eh? He's a very cutthroat politician whom you'd cross at your own peril. He often urges compromise and likes trains almost as much as he does riding his staff with 3am conference calls. This is your Lt. Governor. Mark Dayton poo poo on her a whole lot less than his last one, eh? Already responsible for over 10,000 abortions in Minnesota, how many more would Tina Smith be able to accomplish as your 2018 Democratic nominee for governor? This is a Republican, I guess? They don't really exist in this state, eh? Its the closest picture to one I could find. This is St. Paul. They have a dome and absolutely loathe House majorities. This is outstate! Home of the Farmers and Laborers which the St. Paul Democrats prefer to poo poo on over winning house majorities to loving redistrict the poo poo out of this state and secure Democratic majority rule for at least a generation. This is Duluth. They used to be the socialist capital of America back when they had the highest per capita population of millionaires in America. Now they have a DECC, a motherfucking awesome distillery, and too many bridges to let cheeseheads in. "ME SCOTT WALKER! ME LIKE CHEESE!" The lord Adonai created the heavens and the earth, the waters and the seas, with which he blessed Minnesota with natural moats. Unfortunately, Federal policy insists upon building bridges to Squaky Curdistan. Fortunately, interstate bridges in Minnesota have been known to collapse without advance warning. This is Superior. Its not. This is Spotted Cow. It's criminal in Minnesota thanks to St. Paul Democrats once again loving over the rest of the state while handing a majority to Republicans. If I win y'all a Democratic house majority, I promise you that I will not rest sober until all the great citizens of this state enjoy the freedom of purchasing Spotted Cow at the Minnesota watering holes of their preference. This is St. Cloud. It is a city in racial transition with no loving idea how to not loving concentrate poverty. This is Bemidji!!!! 《3 《3 They have a Paul and Babe statue and are gosh darnit if they ain't the cutest little suburb of St. Cloud, dontchakno! This is Ely. It's the bear capitol of Minnesota!* *Nearest Fire only two hour drive away. Offer does not apply to Thunder Bay This is Brainerd. Margie's from there, ya? With da BCA, don't cha kno? Minnechota, eh! And I guess this is Virginia? There used to be union tickets in the town; now, it is a depressing hellscape of grassroots Trump support without even a functional synagogue. The mining jobs ain't coming back, just don't try to tell that to them good ol' country rebels in Virginia. Well, thanks for stopping by I guess. If I forgot anything, let me know and I'll add it for ya. Thanks for coming to our state, hope ya enjoy it before it freezes over.

My Imaginary GF posted:I know nothing about that guy apart from that he's the epitome of a St. Paul Democrat. If you wanna do a writeup on him, I'll put it in the OP. He's the representative for most of Minneapolis, and he's the first Muslim in Congress, because that's how we roll :kyoon:. Or at least, how this district rolled starting in 2006 and will presumably continue to roll except now I am a part of it. It's a significant step up from living in Bachmann's district and feeling shame for having a terrible congressperson, because Keith Ellison is a good one! He swore in on Thomas Jefferson's Qu'ran, supports progressive stuff, and was the second congressperson to endorse Bernie Sanders! Also, his very existence leads conservatives to say terrible blatantly racist things and get called out for it, so that's great too. I actually covered his original election back in middle school for Social Studies! It was boring as hell, because it was blatantly obvious that he was going to win and that his main opponent's only avenue of attack was "But he was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood!" which isn't very effective in a heavily democratic district with a bunch of Somali immigrants!

Also Bemidji isn't a suburb of St. Cloud. It's not even remotely close to St. Cloud. It's over an hour north. And the Fargo TV series is set there but films in Canada which I find hugely disappointing.

Should've covered the primary. Everyone and their grandmother knew that that seat was going to be solid, unbreakable blue so there were ~20 people running for the nom. Keith won because he had relatively good name recognition, was squeaky clean, and could reliably pull the Muslim vote.

ventura was a good governor because his vetoes forced republicans and dfl to actually work together also, i voted. ended up voting for all the incumbents (dfl and the judge) because the challengers were all jokes, and the only non-dfl race on the partisan side of my ballot was a single uncontested republican guy running for MN-5 congress. i'm disappointed the independence party lost their major-party status, but when you run an anti-fluoride nutter for governor and let a guy sneak by in your us senate primary who defended the "legitimate rape" guy and praised the zim-zam, well... You can vote third party to send a message or because you support the Is having major party status... but when a race is contested for like 6 months over 200ish votes, it's tough to see your vote as not mattering. In other news, Kahn is out in Minneapolis after hanging on by the skin of her teeth in an ugly primary last cycle. Cedar-Riverside and woke collegians have finally overpowered her Student+Professor base.

I had similar thoughts... though I wonder if some of it was to try and slip through based on the same sort of gender roles bullshit you would find in any heavily/devoutly religious community. It was certainly time, but I'm hoping that the winner gets considerable support from more established members of the Minneapolis Dem community and is smart enough to take it. Those are big shoes to fill and she'll have some bitter dems looking to pounce on every error she makes.

Figure he thought Omar and Khan would batter each other to death and he could sneak through with a smaller plurality. Whoever took the primary would win the district, so I suppose he figured it was worth a shot.
