I've got even less textual support for this, because JRRT was a Victorianist don and probably didn't believe in the existence of the clitoris. Good point on JRRT probably not sparing it much thought. I believe the actual size of the human clitoris is a relatively recent discovery, though the human clitoris is pretty much already a big gripping tentacle -- around the vag. Human vaginas change in insane ways due to the body's chemistry at time of birth, so I don't see why elves would be different.
