I sw a person who looked like a snail once. On top of that he also sort of resembled the fat alien from Battlefield Earth, if you happen to have seen that movie. We were bringing lunch to one of my older relatives at the nursing home and he tried to eat some of it before one of the nurses told him not too, and he slowly drove himself away in his chair.

Snail shells and turtle shells are sadly made of different things which blows this whole theory wide open. Snail shells are basically limestone that it secretes from its mantle, turtle shells (or the "carapace") is made of fused bones. Sorry, op. Better luck with the next animal relation thought.
