a lot of people have poo poo on Zidane, but I think he's really unleashed Marcelo and basically freed him up to do what he does best. Madrid have shipped goals under him because they play a ton of 3 at the back scenarios, but the effect of that is that Carvajal and Marcelo have become almost entirely freed. He's also a poo poo defender, so it's good that he's basically being used like a wing back in a 3-4-3
4) what an unbelievably unselfish player - is that mostly true lately?
no not really, he's always created and crossed a ton, but again, moving him more consistently forward has allowed him to link up with players more often. He looks a lot more confident up top this season. He's best used as a playmaker that can only play on the left side, not a left back.
5) what a gifted touch, is he just really coming into the height of his powers?
he's been this technically good for awhile, just not properly utilized
6) is he the greatest LB in the world?
out of the full time left backs (so excluding alaba), yeah probably
