7 and 8 would've been Tauros and Bouffalant. Alola Kingler will have his revenge on the bitch-rear end, unique move stealing piece of trubbish called crawdaunt. Alola Arcanine will probably be pretty cool too.

I'm sure somebody somewhere has already compared each game by number of new species available between each gym, but if I had to guess it's technically gotten better with each generation of new games. Just, for whatever reason, the remakes are always super stubborn about not changing things from the original so they feel even worse next to the new thing you just played. Maybe they'll stop that trend this generation, but I super doubt it. Crazy Diamond won't even use Star Platinum's pokedex.

Similarly, the trials in gen 7 will probably be super cool and have rules like "you can only use 2-3 pokemon just like the captain does" so suddenly gen 4's 2-3 pokemon leaders will feel even more terrible in comparison there too.

HGSS actually pulled a lot of stuff from crystal which makes ORAS slavish devotion to the original story that much more disappointing

You're right, but not the pokedex sadly. And maybe not the gym trainers? I can't remember on that front.

edit: Right, HGSS did touch the gym leaders/trainers but mostly their levels and not from crystal.

Hilariously incompetent villains who fail at the simplest of tasks are actually the best villains for games for children. Team Rocket is great because it also introduces children to what real life villains do and for similar reasons Team Skull will probably be up there as best team. I hope they sell a new version of "bitter" vitamins that both lower stats and make the pokemon dislike you.

That's because abilities and then the physical special/split really boosted some but not all pokemon.

Where's the best place to powerlevel in Yellow? I couldn't beat the Elite Four last night and feel bad about it because my son was watching and he was really sad. My team of Parasect(Mega Drain, Spore, Leech Life, Cut), Primeape(Thunderbolt, Seismic Toss, Low Kick, Karate Chop), Nidoking(Ice Beam, Earthquake, Strength, Double Kick), Pidgeot(Fly, Wing Attack, Sand Attack, Quick Attack), Blastoise(Surf, Water Gun, Skull Bash, Withdraw), and Kadabra(my most shameful movelist, Psychic, Recover, Flash, Reflect) probably sucks. Average level 47.

Any TMs I should use to bang this out? Should I just say gently caress it and put the three legendary birds in the team? Parasect is the anchor. I know his movelist probably sucks but he solo bodied three gyms with it and I love putting them to sleep and killing them with short effective draining moves. But he's so loving slow and every Elite Four Pokemon seemingly has a nice that can one shot him.

What killed you? Did you have enough healing items? Nidoking should be able to solo 2/4 of the E4 just with earthquake since most of bruno and I think all of agatha just roll over and die to it even if your pokemon is in the low 40s. Blastoise with an Ice Move will help during dragons. I think Nidoking will be able to solo most of gary too, honestly.

The best place to powerlevel is against the E4. Spend all of your money on casino coins and/or items and then just make runs without using any items until you feel like you're powerful enough to win though you really already should be. The most useless member of that team, if you were to swap anybody, is probably Pidgeot with Moltres or Articuno being good replacements. I think Bruno's fighting types have rock slide so if Pidgeot isn't OHKOing them it's probably not doing much for you overall.

Do you people actually nuzlocke fangames where everything already has competitive movesets, IVs and EVs so you'd essentially be trying to 6-0 in a competitive setting? Nuzlocke is a thing to make the games where trainers have half-max IVs at most beyond the E4, no EVs and no-to-minimal TM/tutor moves somewhat of a challenge. Like, I could see sticking to the "only one catch per route" part for a fangame but the "faint = dead" just sounds crazy without actively outleveling the opposition (if possible) or actually wasting time EV training yourself which sounds horrendous. Even sticking to the only one catch starts to hurt when you're starved for TMs/Tutors yourself, all of your stuff has like no IVs and EV training is a huge pain. Just play in-game competitive instead, releasing any mon who faints in battle.

They'll just remove any out of place moves during the transfer, guaranteed. The definition of "out of place" might change in some instances but I don't see it changing for Fissure on Machamp.

edit: Regional abilities would also be a cool thing I kind of wish they'd do rather than 1-2 "normal" and 1 "hidden".

Would pokemon completely break if they standardized all pokemon? Like, everyone gets max 600 stat points or whatever and the difference is in the distribution. Presumably some pokemon would still be better than others due to typing, ability, moves, etc, but at least it wouldn't automatically make 2/3 of pokemon non-competitive since they're not even evolved.

Don't know if anybody has tried to re-balance everything to 600 point spreads, but it wouldn't help even if they did. There are plenty of pokemon with good BSTs but all of the points are in bad spots for their types or move-sets and you'll still end up with general tiering because of this. Beyond the stuff with stats in all the wrong places it's more move-sets/abilities than stats that limit pokemon to certain tiers and by boosting everything all of the good stuff that isn't at 600 will still be better than the not-good stuff that isn't at 600.

The unevolved pokemon have "Little Cup" on simulators or times to shine in battle spot events throughout the year. If you like using a bunch of different pokemon competitively you need to be playing the official events and move through all of the tiers on simulators instead of just sticking to OU.

What does this mean? I haven't been around Pokemon in a while honestly asking.

By "dead" I think the meaning is the online activity in the games. So, no new official events, little activity for battles, less active GTS, etc. Basically, you'd have little reason to continue wanting your old pokemon in a previous generation of games unless you know somebody specifically who won't be moving on to generation 7 and you'd want to keep a team around to battle them.

The difference is the games don't really show you any of that because that'd be as dumb as believing all of the stories about stuff adults tell to literal children for kicks and giggles. Or the stories children make up while playing pretend. That is all most pokedex entries are, children recording their ridiculous thoughts or the ridiculous lies their parents told them.

"Stay away from dilapidated buildings, honey, I don't want you getting infected."

"What's infected?"

"Oh, uh, stay away from dilapidated buildings, honey, because ghosts who will devour your soul live there!"

"Stay away from jellyfish, honey, I don't want you getting stung."

"Why?"

"Oh, uh, you see there are these jellyfish that will eat you entirely. They can even sink boats and eat big, hearty sailors!"

The IV/EV on the status screen isn't uranium. That and literally anything else "good" about it is just pokemon essentials and if you were so inclined you could make your own pokemon with it too. A not-good thing from pokemon essentials is the lag/stuttering.
