I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just some QB that I used to know
To be fair in the pocket you aren't doing the primary motion that seems to cause injury.

You mean running?

Yeah, I mean I guess but you are still folding a man in half which causes some odd angles if your feet get caught under you regardless if you are running or not. It seems dangerous either way...

For some reason I'm more annoyed that the jersey counts for horsecollars now. I can get why I guess, but the thought of pulling a guy down by his jersey being illegal in a certain situation just bugs me.

Maybe it's not sensible to allow it in the pocket but the rule came about because Roy Williams injured like 3 people in one season doing it and they were all open-field tackles. I'm not aware of anyone getting an injury from a horsecollar tackle where it's legal and looking at the story from when it was passed, two things stood out: the competition committee didn't want to penatlies getting called on d-lineman reaching out to grab a running back and there was an emphasis that there be an immediate "yank" action to pull the player down. In both those clips, the only yanking really happening is from Bengal and Viking fans.

It's somewhat impressive that Newton managed to bring the ball back into his body as he was going down. I know it's mostly muscle memory but it's not hard to envision that play turning into a strip sack with how odd the sack is and the way Tom Johnson is barreling in at the end of the it.

Is there a clip anywhere of Terrence Fede's roughing the kicker penalty from Thursday night?

From the world of college:

Apparently Penn State's punter has been running downfield and laying the wood like a big boy player, so this time, someone decided to give him a big boy block:

He had to go big because no one flagged him for trying to rip Julius's pads off earlier:

How do they keep losing games like this? Also, sweet Jesus, the offensive holding on #3 to give Jennings a clear jump is pretty bad.

Could have just been a clutch block, but I DON'T CARE, gently caress THE DAWGS!!! SHADENFREUDE!

As long as I hear about Georgia losses, half of my college football heart will hope Florida is having a decent season.

The other half is with Wisconsin because this is what happens when you grow up moving between states.

I'm just saying I don't see 65 holding poo poo. Mack's looks way more like holding, but that won't ever get called unless Kuchely tries to turn and run directly away from the block and Mack holds on.
