Fantastic Crow. I take it all the guest commentaries have been taken? I have s couple of missions in 4/5 I'd definetly comment on. One thing I like was trying more unsual strategies to do objectives. Mine this early was using an F-5, rockets only on ground targets.

You're in your plane and not even a minute into the mission you're thrown into a gigantic air battle and you managed to damage a Yellow plane, you just hear enemy radio chatter asking who managed to actually get the drop on him and Yellow squadron subsequently retreats.

Air Combat certainly looks and plays like a game from 1995.

Pro Tip: Ace Combat is actually a Gundam game but they thought the license was too expensive so they replaced giant robots with fighter planes.

Think about it; superweapons, ace pilots and custom paintjobs, constant war outbreaks, rebels that fight to the bitter end, a protagonist with an unbelievable body count.

It's just like one of my Japanese animes. :japan:

We'll always have arguments about which was the best ace pilot, but once Crow shows off Operation Katina, there is no doubt good ole Mobius One is the frontrunner.

And now we can look forward to AC05, where we can complain about things not being subtle.

To be fair to Namco, they are starting to realize that for some of their franchises, there are indeed sizeable fanbases for them outside of Japan. Such as the two most recent Super Robot Wars games getting English releases (mostly for the southeast Asia market, mind), even if some of the translations are rough.

So they are getting slowly better. Heavy emphasis on "slowly".

Super Robot Wars has the excuse of it being a copyright nightmare considering most of the franchises appearing in it.

Katina was pretty fun little side mission. Even though completing it utterly breaks AC05 by unlocking the F-22 so early.

I also thought it was funny that ISAF's response to shutting down a rebellion is to send a single fighter pilot to deal with the whole group.
