As someone who this happened to, it is a definite "what the gently caress" moment. I legit thought the forums were just broken at first.

I fondly remember my welcome PM from Ozma

They had started a new mod FAQ shortly before I was modded, as I recall. Before that mods just figured it out as they went along.
