It's been a few years but the masochist in me wants to play and mod this up again. Is texture pack combiner redundant now? I want to replace every single texture in the game with 2-4k textures because even the texture pack dlc ones suck. Is there an easy one stop shop to replace every single texture in the game. Seriously, it's really annoying to spend the time downloading all these great looking texture packs, then you walk past a wooden beam that looks like it belongs on an NES game and you can't figure out which mod would fix it.

About the ram issue - I could swear I had a plugin that allowed the game to use as up to 8gb of ram (not enb). Did I imagine this?

Also LOD mods. I was always pretty underwhelmed with what they did. Sure it was better but Skyrim LOD still sucked. Has there been any progress on that front?

I'm having trouble downloading with Mod Organizer. It's not logging in and not downloading when I click the download with manager link.

E: Fixed it. Had to run the nxnhandle.exe

E2: With SKSE plugins installed via MO the SKSE - plugin files are fine to be located in Mod Organiser/mods/TheMod right? It's been years since I've used it.

Well, the game starts - that's good. I've got the bouncing wagon bug - that's bad (caused by me being a dumbass and not actually building the batched patch and the following error message on the start menu screen.

Having installed everything via MO I have no SKSE folder in the data folder. How do I force steamloader for skse via MO?

Crash fixes in giving me a warning message about having ExpandSystemMemoryX64=true set in enblocal.ini. I think I can ignore that though.

Huh, also MO is saying my batched patch.esp doesn't need to be activated?

So I'm an idiot. I was expecting SMC to be a thing where I downloaded a bunch of different texture mods and then when combining it would prompt me to ask which mod I'd like to use for X or Y like a FOMOD install - but nope! All it does is extract any mods you download into a single folder (which I could have done myself without downloading 250+ mods!). So I now I have an absolute mess of incompatible, redundant textures and esp's taking up 22g of space. At least I have them all downloaded when I pick the 10 or 20 mods I actually want.

Not anywhere I can find. I'd recommend it as a guide for picking good texture mods but I definitely wouldn't recommend installing them through it. I mean I have no loving idea how it expects to handle a scripted install like SMIM that requires you to pick and choose your own preferences.

The simple fix if you want to make Skyrim hard again is just to adjust to your heath, stamina and magicka to a level where even if you're dealing out a lot of damage you're also vulnerable and need to use abilities intelligently to survive a fight.

Can anyone recommend an ENB that works well with night eye and night eye overhaul? No matter what I do with vividian the end result is almost useless. The best result I can get is a night eye that just jacks up the gamma but still doesn't really let me see that well in the dark. If I tweak it in ENB control panel I can get rid of the gamma but that effectively turns off night eye.

What's the consensus on Save game script cleaner? While I don't need to use it now I'm imagining a point where I might want to yank a script heavy mod on a game I'm well into. Like when vampires attack or run for your lives - which aren't working. Apparently they don't play nice with wet and cold - something to note if you're thinking of getting all three.

Does anyone know of a spell pack that contains a spell similar to vampire grip (something I can pick people up and throw them around with)? There's a mod that let's vanilla telekinesis do this but the comments on it make it sound like it's got some issues with flinging NPCs out of the game and I'd rather not gently caress with any vanilla spells.

I think this one is in the OP but it's about as good as the vanilla hair is going to get. Pick the straight option IMO.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36510/

Otherwise just search hair on Nexus until you find something you like, unless it's for men's hair - there you're poo poo out of luck because it's all anime garbage that should only be seen in boy bands.

I'd like to recommend this mod for the Quality of Life section in the OP. If you've played Skyrim for more than 20 hours you're probably sick of fighting bears and wolves every 2 minutes. This mod lets you set the aggression level of any animal in the game to whatever you'd like. Straight up aggressive like in vanilla, cowardly so they'll run from you or even allied so they'll come and fight for you.

Pretty sure it's a FOMOD install. Just download it with mod manager and following the install instructions. I wouldn't recommend getting it if you have an ENB installed, and also it's 200mb of really bad hair, most of which I think are taken straight off Second Life or something. Most of it is ported over from its Oblivion days and is just popular because of momentum. But that's just my opinion.

That being said if you're big on downloading NPC makeover mods you might as well get it because a lot of them use assets from it and require it as a master file.

Ah, okay, that worked.

Now I have to deal with it again, only I can't drag the data folder up.

Take a look in your steamapps/common/skyrim folder then look in data. You'll see that contains a bunch of subfolders called meshes, textures, scripts etc as well as the esp and esm plugin files. What MO does is create a virtual Data folder that mirrors this so you can keep your regular install clean and not overwrite files. So when you install into MO you've gotta imagine you're dragging stuff into the Data folder (don't ever actually do that), so the file stucture has to make sense that way. In this case the Data folder in the zip or rar file is making a bad file path for MO because it goes Data/data/(mod contents).

Also you don't need all of the jpg files. Only the ones under data. If you want to look at the readmes in there MO will save a copy of the rar/zip file under Downloads in MO.

E: One last thing - sometimes when reinstalling a mod or installing an update MO will prompt you to ask if you want to Merge or Replace - pick merge because that will overwrite the files or add in the extra files included in the update. If you pick replace when installing an update it will remove the original mod contents and install only the updated files.

So this isn't Mod related (so far as I can tell), but suddenly one of my spells (Steadfast ward, in this case) refuses to equip in anything but the left hand. Whether I use the favorites menus, or normal item/spell menus.

There seemed to be a bit of fuckery with my war axe being auto equipped to my right hand at first (I guess SkyUI remembering fave positions? even though it behaves itself for the other spells), but even unfavoriting those and throwing them to the ground temporarily still left that spell refusing to equip anywhere but the left hand alone.

Nothing I do seems to want to get me able to be able to equip it in my right hand again. Any ideas? Or how to prevent this from happening with other spells?

What google results I can turn up, aren't helpful. Just suggesting equipping other one handed weapons, stuff about numbered hotkeys (Which I've yet to use), "try starting a new character then going back?", etc, which have not helped. (Also, loading saves way earlier than when this started happening, has it happen).

There are two steadfast ward spells in the game. One is left hand equip only and is more common. Try this in the console:

player.removespell 7231a

If that removes the spell then you had the left hand equip version.

player.addspell 211f1 will add the either hand version.

If you have any magic mods that type help "steadfast ward" and see if a mod adds anything. There should only be two spell references in that list.

Spel: (0704A00F) 'steadfast ward'

A mod is adding that and is the one you have. Whichever mod is seventh in your load order. That version is a left hand only spell which is why you can't equip it. Add the vanilla version I listed above with the console if you want the right hand option.

Also with the console you never need to tab out to look up an ID. Just bring up the console and type - help "what you're looking for". If the list is too long you can use page up and page down to scroll through it until you find what you're after.

As far as I know the order to the left really only matters when adding things that don't have an ESP attached. Texture mods for example. So if you have two texture mods that change the same texture the mod lower in that list is the texture the game will use. If you want to be really safe have the mod list on the left mirror the plugin list on the right as closely as possible, but eh, seems like a lot of effort.
