Better writing is needed ASAP, I know that isn't the hottest take, but the show has suffered from complacency issues where they think doing the same structure (Best of three series over many months where the competitors rarely wrestle, contract signings, every match being a squash) has led to this.

NXT TV should go live even though it would the brand an even bigger money pit. It would add surprise, the crowds would be less worn by the end of it and would probably raise standards of the matches. Like at least Joe and Nakamura have a good build for their match, what the gently caress has Asuka done to build her match with Mickie?

NXT needs to start making stories and stop making shows about being the set up for the Takeover with supercards that are built up with little build and emotion.

Its like saying how those Marvel movies are just commercials for the next movies except way more valid

The biggest problem with NXT is a complete lack of momentum. It's the same thing Lucha Underground has, now that it's not new: the weekly episodes don't really feel like they're building toward anything. You get a string of meaningless taped episodes before and after a Takeover. Nothing on the weekly show feels like it's a can't-miss.

It also doesn't help that both shows are taped so there is no genuine surprise/crowd gets tired after the 4th taping

I think it's just a really dumb spot that they'll stop doing. Every spot that involves plopping two opponents on top of each other always sucks and doesn't make sense anyhow. Just powerbomb them on the mat, duh.

They should have just kept doing that power bomb spot where they lift both partners and then ram them into each other before powerbombing both of them

Shawn Michaels has meant largely nothing as trainer. Not a Dusty Rhodes replacement. They might be in the process of bringing another paternalistic figure on board.

Common sense and simple numbers but there's fears of releases early in the new year. They've a lot of trainees not working out due to either injuries or lack of progression.

Wouldn't that be why they are interested in Steve Corino?

Honestly they should ditch Full Sail or make it a big house show and the taped NXT show is them touring the country because this and the Osaka episode were much better than most NXT episodes last year

They just need to really work out the log jam that occurs in the main event scene, stop making the title matches happen at Takeovers or at least have smaller feuds that lead to title matches occur during the tapings. That and stop giving the title to men past their prime/constantly half assing it.

I love Samoa Joe but he is past his prime and was very close in my most overrated ballot for the PSP awards because of how heavily he was used in the NXT main event scene in 2016, Nakamura since the Zayn match has been basically wrestling like he is bored and is complacent in giving the crowd a "Best of Nakamura" experience since they pop for that, and Bobby Roode is old and he better thank CFO every day since that theme song is the only thing keeping his boring dry rear end over.

Ideally you would have Tommy End, Roddy, and Cien mixing it up in the main event scene, but the show moves at a glacial pace that everyone has to wait their turn on the convener belt of Get a Title match, win title, rematch for 2 more Takeovers, and rinse and repeat with the next guy. They need triple threat or fatal fourway title matches.
