I was big into icp in high school but none of my friends were so I kinda kept it a secret because I knew deep down it was kind of stupid and I'd get ridiculed for it. by college I grew out of it but a few months ago they announced their first Canadian tour in something like 20 years so at the age of 31 I decided I'd go check it out just for shits and giggles having not listening to one of their albums since maybe 2001 and never seeing them live ever. if you aren't afraid to get soaked in faygo, it's a lot of fun. pretty much the definition of absurd. the crowd was probably the nicest crowd I've ever seen - I lost count of how many times I was apologized to for getting accidentally jostled, and I've been to a shitload of shows over the years. welp that's my juggalo story I hope you enjoyed reading it.

this is probably a naive question but something I always wondered about the earth and phsyics. i know its impossible to generate infinite energy but as I understand it, the mass of the earth alone is what creates the pressure needed to produce earth's molten core (a poo poo load of heat). so what's stopping an advanced civilization from enclosing a planet in a big sphere so that no matter can escape and then just harvesting the generated heat from the pressure, forever and ever?

vodkat posted:stupid question time; but isn't that what an audio jack is doing already? what will a dac do that a normal computer audio output won't? the sound card in your computer will have a DAC in it that sends the audio signal through a line level amplifier before sending it to the headphone/speaker jack. people get special DACs because they think it makes a difference (for the past couple decades, maybe more, it makes zero difference. bargain basement DAC chips are already mathematically perfect). the real difference lies in the line level amp, which may be susceptible to interference which can produce audible noise in the signal, especially if your sound card is integrated into the motherboard

speaking of bethesda, ulillillia is playing through morrowind and documenting it all on facebook. he's no doubt going to find new unimaginable ways to break that game. he's already leveling up his skills in the most absurd way possible, like wearing heavy armor and purposefully getting assaulted by mud crabs until his skills automatically level up on their own. he admits he hasn't done a single quest yet.
