To be fair, a lot of them were like "yeah, we probably shouldn't have those on here" but the moderators were very bitter about it and weren't afraid to name their illness: Something Awful Dot Com. Yeah, that whole fiasco was really the spawning point of the Free Speech crusades. It probably helped that those subreddits were bringing a massive amount of traffic to the site (enough for the admins to give an award to ViolentCrez, god help us all).
