And you, Lance... I can't believe you sat back and watched! Out of the two options, this was the quickest and most efficient way to open the door. Hard to argue with the results. There's the Gore scene but that's not affected by alignment stuff so we find a quick route through Grus (spoilers: it's still not THAT quick), beat up Maya, get the Exotic Matter and enter Horologium. Silence Meeting up with Gore outside of Mem Aleph's chamber is when things get interesting again. Oh and because he's a hardcore daredevil Lance Murdock decides to not use demons for almost anything. This part included.   ...Which brings me to the point, Murdoch. You have a decision to make. With all you've seen and learned about the Schwarzwelt... Moan Bullet's damage right now is pretty okay but we can do better. A lot better.  Not like this fight requires it or anything, though.  After all, as you may recall: Gore has nothing but Phys and Gun elemental attacks.  It's pretty easy as a result. I feel like even with the Tactical Vest equipped here (lowest defense) I can do better (quicker) if I bring like a Doppelganger or a Hathor or something. Hmm actually, this gives me an idea... Herald Mastema Vehement Rage Oh boy, Mastema fight let's go! Mastema is of course an angel but also kind of a fallen angel. His name is Hebrew for Hostility, he's the persector of evil within Judaism and also he is Satan and tried repeatedly to kill Moses. That whole "killing all the firstborns" thing? Mastema's idea.  I, uh, Great Lament is meant to be Frolic but with a different name. It also apparently has a different, abysmal proc rate because I've never, ever, ever seen it hit.  Untainted Wind is just Magarudyne, basically. It's not even really any stronger. Just multitarget Wind damage, very ho hum.  Judgement is Mahamaon with probably a higher proc rate? In this case I don't know or really care. It's Expel elemental and it's not Light/Darkness from Mem Aleph so it's not a major-major threat if you don't Tetraja Stone. But Tetraja Stones are common as dirt so.  Mel Faize is multi-target Almighty damage. ...I don't know what Faize is when translated from Hebrew, sorry. Mel Faize IS definitely Hebrew (Mel means Complete) though.  Really, he's a secret jerk not for his attacks but because he reflects Gun. And Ice and Wind, but Gun is the important one. He's weak to Fire though so his 8500HP doesn't last long. He's way, way easier than Jimenez was, even without wacky NG+ shenanigans. End Silence > Someone interupted the conversation... Chaos Theme  This is not a surprise. You saw this coming immediately when we first met her.  This is what you angels, born by the breath of God, get for scheming to rebuild the earth. ...You were... a part of this...? Curse... you... But know this...  Now that we've done a violence on Mastema, there's not really all that much left to do. We'll just zoom on down to the bottom of Horologium and see Mem Aleph. Chaos Theme  I gotta go get my final orders, too. The angels tried to stop us, but looking back... they didn't put up much of a fight, huh? ...There's still one that didn't show, though... Which is More Powerful Megidolaon. And this is with him debuffed! Not fully, but still. He's not dumb enough to use Holy Wrath though, sadly. Probably a good thing all things considered!  Instead he just Debilitates. Because Big Bang isn't strong enough as it is, I guess!  So, yeah, he's a Seraph. Weak to Ice, resists Phys and Gun, drains Fire. He has 2200HP so this fight is probably going to be quick regardless of the outcome! End A Land Bringing About Life  Well, don't that beat all. Still, I'm surprised they brought out a Seraph. Sorry I made you do all the hard work, but... Guess I was worried for nothing. Hahaha... It all worked out. Now then... here's your reward. It's pretty nifty, if I do say so myself. Now then, as you can see, I'm back in my perfect form. You and me, raising hell... get me? Yes. Good to hear it! And thus was formed the greatest force ever for chaos and violence! I'm counting on you to hold up your end. Now let us go... to the world overflowing with energy! A free Mara is pretty nice, I dunno.  Mainly because we can make him actually good this time around. No fusion level limit after all. ...Really still weirds me out that he has a Phys skillset but his best stat is Magic. Mara please.  Peacemaker IS the best gun. Moan Bullet, highest Attack of all guns, Grateful One is 175 Power ST Gun damage which makes it the best thing for that. Not much point to it now but hey. Biggest downside is that its Chaos only so in practical terms Meteor Dragoon is better. Second biggest downside is that I forget to equip it. I am a genius. Anyway, Eridanus! Vanishing Point! Let's go! I do remember to equip the Dragon Ring, though, yes. Silence This Vanishing Point will become a gate to Hell. But there'll be no torments or prisons for us there... this gate'll set our souls free. We'll establish a beautiful world where might makes right! You will not open that gate! There will be no world of demons created today! ...You... So the wannabe angel shows her face...! Why will you not accept the perfect guidance of our Lord? It was difficult to reconcile my desire to save everyone with His wishes, it is true... Law Theme  The evil soul is rotten down to the foundation. No hymn can absolve it... You don't even realize how utterly under God's thumb you are. If that's bliss to you, I can't help you there. But we're not so weak that you can take us out with borrowed power, I guarantee. One of us is gonna be eradicated from this world, but which one? Wanna test it, Zelenin? Use that opportunity to take her down!  Pillar Zelenin Take The Shield, Raise The Spear  So, Zelenin.... is no Mem Aleph that's for sure. Hell, she's barely comparable to Jimenez. And that's a matchup I think she'd lose. Quick reference, she has 10,000HP, resists Gun and reflects Elec. Except not really. She's ALSO a barrier change boss, but it's less important or relevant than with Mem Aleph; those resistances are just her default stats (she starts with no weakness but adds one later oops). It's explictly tied to one of her skills in this case, so that's nice at least.  Megido Storm is arguably her best attack and, uh, it's Electric elemental. Probably a bit of a goof on her part, yes.  Requiem is marginally more interesting since it's an instant death skill. It's very inaccurate though, since it's Almighty elemental. That just means you can't Tetraja it. Whatever. It also causes her weaknesses and resistances to change. Nothing quite like her using this and then a follow-up Riot Gun smashing for over 5000 damage. Yes, really:  That's okay but we can (and will!) do better.   And Sinner's Song is... her last unique attack. It's multi-target Almighty damage with a chance to Charm. Much like with Mastema's Great Lament I've never seen the Charm actually work so, uh, good job there I guess.  Her last actual attack is Wave of Death. You probably don't remember, but we have seen this before; Ouroboros used it in her second fight.  So, all-in-all Zelenin's really not difficult. The Chaos route is, by far, the easiest one yeah. End Morale Pretty embarrassing way to go out, Zelenin. You all got together and sang hymns to God... probably felt like you were part of something bigger. Hah! What a load of it! You weren't any bigger! You just lost yourself...!> Jimenez walked closer...  Right, Lance? We came here to solve the mystery of the Schwarzwelt... But what we cound was an even stronger bond between demons and humans. Can you see it yet? Maybe not, with that Demonica still on. But I can see it. Just past that giant gate... Release it! Set it free! The power of the Schwarzwelt...!  Bestow this power, this life, of the Schwarzwelt... ...to the Earth that cries out in pain. And I... The World of Chaos The World of Chaos And with that, we're just about done yet again.  It's really immediately obvious that this cutscene is completely identical to before...  Except everything that had a blue aura now has a red one instead.  It makes this bit look kind of cooler at least? I think so anyway. Sort of has more weight.  This "everything" does include the expanding Schwarzwelt of course. Scepter of Justice And then credits etc. screenshots from each sector, part of the CGI scene... Silence Then the actual ending part of the ending. > Its power covered the Earth in an instant...  > After this great cataclysm... > The power of creation will rebuild a new world. > A world full of life, ruled over by demons... Chaos Theme Once the Earth is purified by the demons, it'll regain its power. Yep, those who are supposed to die will die... that's the way of the beautiful world of old. As they revert to their divine selves, our world will regain its former power. Under demon rule, the days of training one's body and mind will start. Now c'mon, Lance! To our home, pulsing with life...! > They descended upon the Earth as gods of power, freedom, and hope. > There are no fallen humans left there to bring ruin...   EndI'm kind of disappointed that Jimenez's cool third design wasn't visible anywhere in there. Pillar Zelenin was explicitly mentioned AND visible in the Law ending after all.  Ah well, that's two worlds created... See you next mission!

DSJ PV Alright, so first off: very, VERY recently Atlus decided to announce a 3DS remake of this game called Strange D3EP Journey (read: Deep Strange Journey). It contains a new character named Alex who has her own new ending, she wants to do a murder on the main character for the crime of Being In The Schwarzwelt and is totally definitely not going to be Marie, again, honest. EndSo, let's go back to our normal, regularly scheduled programming...  Our third and final run begins with the hero of the heart, the coolest kid in town and Professor Layton's third assistant in the making, I am sure. Also a former classmate of Richard Appel, one of the writers of the Simpsons. Both Langdon and Lance are shown as names in the US manual. Atlus kind of has a fondness for that, you may notice. In many English previews for things like Etrian Odyssey, characters are often named after characters from popular webcomics for example.  So, Langdon's Demonica is going to be determined by the last simple pattern. Gonna select the bottom option every ti--  Oh. Uhh, that's pretty bad! St: 19% Ma: 20% Vi: 18% Ag: 24% Lu: 19% Is the Speed Demonica's growth, so we're gonna reload and try ahain. This time, we select answers 3-1-3-2-1 in that order and that gives us...  Technical is vague but this is the Magic Demonica. St: 19% Ma: 24% Vi: 19% Ag: 20% Lu: 18%  Vitality is just plain bad so I won't humor that one at all. It exists, it's poo poo, moving on.  We have a bunch of Special Passwords to try out as soon as we can (which is immediately).  These give very specific, very special "demons". They're replica Demonicas that are sentient! They even come with Gun skills that are normally Hitonari exclusive, oddly enough.  Replace the alignment in the password with a different one (Neutral or Chaos as appropriate) gives a different Fake. They each have Watchful for passive EXP gain, and they each have a single target stat debuff. Airstrike, by the way, makes Demonica-N the worst base demon for offense. It's unique to this guy in every way, as all these Gun skills are, but it's just Needle Assault (MT gun, base power of 75) but with reduced accuracy AND it costs more than twice as much. gently caress Airstrike.  Demonica-C is at least double fancy for having an instant death attack and being  Skipping way, way ahead to level 20+, we can use three more now. Replace the alignment with Bugaboo and we can see Jimenez's buddy!  Bugaboo is, uh, really boring. I get the impression that Jimenez didn't keep him around for his combat prowess.  There are also slightly different Bugaboos with a different first vowel. They're also really kind of boring.  None of them are even recolours or anything! The most interesting thing about them is that the three Boos all give Preparedness on their Source which makes them the earliest way to get it at all, AND the earliest fixed Source with it with Sleipnir as the next one. Speaking of Sleipnir, we're gonna skip aaaaaall the way ahead to Grus. Zelenin just did the mind control song on Ryan and co. and Grendel wants us to finish the job. Chaos Theme We gotta pick a side between murdering Ryan and letting Zelenin sing.  Or we can just say gently caress that and fight Grendel. Let's take this third option that the game never actually tells you about but clunkily hints at, like twice.  Understood. This choice may well result in successful completion of the mission. An Honor Befitting That Name Sorry, Grendel, but I'm not playing even remotely fairly with you. Out of the three demons I'm using to speed through filler, Seraph is the worst one! And he has Big Bang! Grendel is a Grendel but with more HP. That's basically it for him.  Shiva's (Level 91) around for two-fold reasons. He starts with both Victory Cry AND the one skill that competes with Riot Gun for top-billing (and ultimately loses because it's Almighty) AND his Source gives it guaranteed. I want that source. Vishnu (Level 86) innately reflects Phys and Gun. And starts with Megidolaon. And Riot Gun. I don't think I need to say anything else here. Neither would see actual serious use in a normal playthrough, really. Realistically, anything above level 75... call it 80 at a VERY HIGH push might as well be NG+ exclusive for all the difference it doesn't make. I'm starting to think this might actually work. It works on the same principle as a detonator in a nuclear warhead. As yet, we have not found an energy source on the scale we need. He came back with everything already prepared... So, where is this detonation energy?  No, really, what the gently caress? What kind of realistically predictable emergency would necessitate having a nuclear warhead to use? This would honestly be way more believable if it was on the Lightning and not the Gigantic. We will use that warhead as our detonator. What...!? We went charging into the Schwarzwelt with a nuke on board...!? This project was scarier than I knew... Ironic, huh? The nuke we brought in as a scorched-earth solution ends up our last hope at survival.  His findings indicate that there are a total of four Cosmic Eggs in the Schwarzwelt. You are tasked with obtaining the following: the Gigantic's nuclear warhead and the four Cosmic Eggs. I am issuing a new official mission, designated "Bomb Materials Retrieval." As far as processing the Cosmic Eggs and nuclear warhead... We will use the lab's matter synthesize to create the Schwarzwelt bomb. ...It won't be easy. Notably, aside from Wu Kong randomly misgendering Jimenez, none of the dialogue here is different from the Law route.  So we hit Zhu Yin with the beginning of the universe and he crumples.  This also lets us know something I'm sure you were definitely curious about. The Egg numbers are based on the sector, not collection order.  Delphinus gives us the same dialogue as the Chaos route here.  Which means that Cherub also gets fought, and promptly crumples.  This just leaves Yatagarasu at the Gigantic in Bootes. Silence > There is no sign of its crew and it doesn't seem to be running.  No reason to leave, so I don't get why this is even a choice.   Law Theme ...Can't say I was expecting to see Zelenin here. Huh. That's different. The resulting energy of which would destroy the Schwarzwelt... But the Cosmic Eggs have a greater purpose. They must be used to forge the world our Lord desires. She COULD do this then as well, but adamantly refused to do so for some reason.  It's just Luster Candy but with an added Diarama for minor inconvenience.  Her moveset is completely identical to before, too, save for no inclusion of Requiem.  ...But she finally managed to Charm someone with Sinner's Song. Good job, Zelenin!  Anyway, she's a simple fight but playing like it's fresh she takes a bit of a while. Not Gore levels of lengthy, but she can get up there. She has 7700 HP, reflects Elec, resists Gun and is weak to Wind. End Sorrow This form... and my actions... these, I do not regret... O Lord... forgive... your servant... ...... Beyond a rotating weakness, and that he resists Gun when he's not weak to it, he has no actual change to his resistances. His attacks are also all completely identical to the Soil version on the Law route...  Though he deals less damage, and it sure feels like he uses Dark Matter more here.  He has 9000HP here, and always drains Fire. He doesn't decide to drain anything extra when low on HP this time either. End Silence No... it was... 'cause it was you... ...... Sorrow Alger. He has 20,000 HP and he reflects everything. Everything. Except one element which he sometimes resists and sometimes is weak to.  He switches what that is every time he either does an action or gets hit or something, it's really unclear. Point is, it switches CONSTANTLY and that means Gibo Eyes is a lying liar in this fight. See, it can tell you something will work because it will.  But he's level 99 so he outspeeds you almost guaranteed. Then it doesn't work any more. And the thing you used gets reflected and whoops. So I just said gently caress it and hit him with the power of All The Cosmos approx. 60 times in a row!  He also has a Ton of Skills but none of them are new or unique to him. Well, one KIND OF is but we can use it so I don't count it:  Jihad is a special spell that competes with Riot Gun for the best skill in the game. It costs 80MP, is multitarget, has a base power of 500 and also inflicts Debilitate. It ultimately loses to Riot Gun because of its cost, its Almighty so it can't hit weaknesses and its only available from two demons. Shiva and, uh, the Demiurge. And he does/can use it here as well, but it's pretty rare and he'd rather buff himself than debuff you for some reason.  He can also use things like Maya's Gates or Mother's Kiss or Disaster Cycle. And since you're probably going to be sensible and use the Dragon Ring, sometimes this happens!  But if you're being sensible, you're going to at some point see Gibo Eyes tell you literally nothing is going to work so you just throw Almighty attacks at him. A lot. He has 20,000HP.  I said that already but I'm going to say it again: he has 20,000 HP. I fought him twice, he never came close to ever winning either time; this video was the shorter and more interesting of the two. The other one was about 13 minutes long and I did the second easiest way to shutdown almost every boss. Trap him in a loop of casting Dekaja and Dekuda. It was as exciting as it sounds. You need to be NG+ to get him normally, his stats are pretty meh to say he has a whole 15 points left to allocate, his resistances are okay I guess? Jihad + Victory Cry is a good combo for randoms at least, I approve there. His source is the second to give Repel Phys. Alilat is the only other one to do so. Period. Not just fixed, though there is that too. No demon has Repel Phys by default. That one skill is - I am 100% sure of this - the entire reason these guys are NG+ exclusive. It's almost a shame this is going to be almost a week late, but even belatedly I think we can afford to give Mem Aleph a Mother's Day gift or three. I hope she likes chicken...

Yeah, there are two ways the Demiurge fight goes and neither is particularly exciting: 1. You don't know his gimmick, or do and try to fight him normally anyway, and it's Really Long and Annoying; 2. You just say gently caress it and hit him with Almighty attacks for a few minutes and it's still Relatively Long and Boring Pretty much the entire reason I bothered using the demons I did was to speed things up, because it sure ain't required by any means. I probably could've used the same team as the Jimenez fight and all it would do is make the fight take significantly longer without actually being any harder. For a so called "Ultimate Boss," the Demiurge is a big ol' paper tiger compared to a lot of things that are plot required. Edit: I'm still going to actually use him because that way the fact that I decided to go and get 100% Compendium won't feel like a waste of about 40 minutes (it was absolutely a waste of nearly an hour).

A Scorched Nation So, before we go fight Mem Aleph one last time there's one final thing to do. This pillar in Antlia is something we've passed several times, but have ignored wholesale... until now.  Data repair... in progress... Data repair... complete.  It replicates demon data and dimensional data, allowing you to participate in real combat. Turn on the combat trainer? Yes.> Some information was sent to your Demonica.  This program uses a multi-battle combat system. It is recommended that you prepare yourself properly before activation. Or, in other words, this is a bit of a marathon of fights. Oh boy, let's go!   More specifically, it's a boss rush!  It's a series of upto 11 fights depending on what alignment routes you've done before. The fights themselves are completely unchanged from their normal incarnations, which makes sense and is also kind of disappointing.  The boss rush itself is an EX Mission but it doesn't formally have a reward, per se. You CAN gain a bunch of incense from this but pfft who cares about incense now.  The reason we left it until now is because after Maya, we get upto 4 fights added. Mastema and...  Pillar Zelenin are added from completing the Chaos route.  There is an internal "time limit" that affects your reward for a given fight. Beating every fight under that time limit is how you get like 15 incense? Not important.  Soil Jimenez and the two-form Mem Aleph battle are added from the Law route. Mem Aleph is also added from the Neutral route, of course. Judge Zelenin and Awake Jimenez are never added. Incidentally, this is a REALLY good way to grind if you care about that. A Scorched Nation Just beating it is enough to get the EX Mission to count as cleared, thankfully.  Mem Aleph's turn limit is for both fights combined so that one can be tricky if you don't do this a super Easy Way. I just constantly bombared Zelenin (and everyone else) with Victory Cry'd Jihads so she healed with Left Hand a bunch is why it's not 10. A Land Bringing About Life Anyway, this is the team we're going to use for Mem Aleph. You've probably seen a video that uses poo poo like an Erthys and Jack Frost but this is better.   Mem Aleph's form should be visible, thanks to Commander Gore's assistance. Use all your might to defeat Mem Aleph. You're our best hope, Langdon. Save the Earth! I know you can do it, Langdon! We will return to sector Eridanus immediately. You heard him, everyone! Stand by to shift to Eridanus! Despite it shifting to CG, this isn't quite the start of the ending just yet. Morale We can confirm the effects of the Exotic Matter! Looks like there's a warp, just like we predicted! I'd say that's a good sign we can finally get home...! First, we must synthesize the bomb, and then activate it simultaneously with our escape. One last big job for the lab! But how do you plan to do all this with one ship...? If we explode, we can't very well escape. We will divide the Red Sprite. Ah, okay... didn't think of that. The World of Man The CGI part of the ending this time isn't just short fluff! It's like almost 3 minutes long! It's substance! Watch it! ....if you can or want to or whatever The World of Man There's already a notable difference between this one and the previous two: there's no silhouette of the MC standing outside the ship.  In fact, he doesn't appear in it at all.  Instead, we focus on the Lab inside the Red Sprite.  It's mostly empty, but someone new has been hooked up to the console.  Arthur, all alone...  He turns on the power in the Lab...  Which enables the Cosmic Eggs to fulfil their new and real purpose.  At first blush, Arthur is being warned of something going wrong here but this just means the plan is going as expected so far.  Now, the Red Sprite splits and the crew are thrown into the Vanishing Point.  ...Just in time for the Cosmic Eggs to finish powering the nuclear warhead.   R.I.P. Arthur... And 'lo does the Red Sprite finish its detonation.  In a minor amount of familiarity, the explosion can be seen leaving the Schwarzwelt itself as well.  But this time, rather than expanding rapidly... the Schwarzwelt shrinks!  And it disappears entirety. The Earth itself is restored to normal... for now. Scepter of Justice And with that, the credits roll one last time. Silence  Where? Where'd we touch down? Judging by the weather conditions, I think it's safe to disembark.  Alright, let's go outside! The End  This is Antarctica! We made it back to Earth! We did it! We escaped! The Earth is saved! Thank you, Arthur. We made it out alive... I can tell you what Arthur would've said... Humanity's mission isn't over yet... right, Langdon? Is this the Red Sprite? I see... This is incredible! We'll dispatch a rescue squad to pick you up immediately. You men just sit tight. There's a few things I could still do, but I don't care enough about Grus to map out all of it for like 25 Incense from Dantalian. No one should, honestly. ...oh and I am like 1000% sure Horologium is supposed to be Greed (process of elimination) but I sure as hell can't explain it in practice. I guess maybe because you go around beating dudes up to take the eggs to take the Schwarzwelt but that really doesn't entirely work.  Yeah, for the sake of absolutely nothing I split my savefile at the Demiurge fight just in the off-chance it would help oneshot Mem Aleph easier. It didn't. Oh well! Hmm, but what now? There's nothing left here. We've finished everything of substance in SJ. In the end, I'll leave you to form your own opinions on everything we've seen and experienced here. Maybe even do something bizarre and play it for yourself to fully form an opinion or something, I dunno. See you, space cowboy.
