Ronda's mom might make a forums account to defend her in this thread if we keep bashing her for being a lovely fighter and human being.

Rondas mom is loving awesome! She wouldn't defend her for a single second. She knows Edmond is poo poo and she knows Travis Browne is trash.

Ronda is never coming back.

This is true, Joanna Champion is >>> Ronda Rousey

Joanna is amazing. Funny, cute and nice outside the ring and on social media, and an ice cold killer in the ring. She is to striking what Ronda was to grappling before she was destroyed. Someone on the forums called her a "human woodchipper", and that is a good description of her fighting style. Every time you go into an exchange with her, you will come out worse than she does.

Has anybody said Rhonda Arouse-me yet?

Kleio Valentien does a better Harley Quinn than Ronda Rousey. Also, the movie didn't have Danny D as a Conor McGregor equivalent, which has to be one of the biggest lost opportunities ever in porn parodies.

I'm sure there have been fights like that.

Though in the earliest days with no rules or weight classes, you would see a tiny jiu-jitsu guy in his gi owning everyone. I've watched MMA on and off for a long time, and it seems like pretty much every fighting style has had its time as the "best" type of fighting or the best base for MMA-- Jiu-jitsu, wrestling, boxing (sorta), judo, karate, muay thai, catch wrestling, etc. Though now it seems like everyone trains everything (just general MMA) and we don't see that many X vs. Y fighting style matches. I always thought that was part of the fun TBH.

Also come to think of it, kung fu never had its time as a top style that I can remember. Maybe just not a lot of traditional Chinese fighters ever made it to Pride or UFC. I always wanted to see that though.

Lyoto Machida, and currently Stephen Wonderboy Thompson are karate fighters, and fight noticeably different from other strikers with lots of success. Joanna Champion (of our hearts) is a thai boxer, and though she takes a lot of strikes to do what she does, her opponents come out looking like they've been through a meat grinder.

I just rewatched the Rousey loss and wow, she looked terrible through it all. She tries to grapple three times: twice Holly ends up shoving her away; the third, Holly throws her down.

The rest of the match is spent stucking her face out so Holly can punch the gently caress out of it.

Great match because you can see Rhonda going from little miss badass to having a meltdown in 7 minutes. First she's angry, then she's frustrated, then she's almost crying, and then she's unconscious.

Holly seems like she can't believe her simple straight left punch right down the middle keeps landing over and over and over again. Also, that one sidekick is like something out of a yellow belt taekwon do class, but it nearly chops Ronda in half.

It's really cool seeing how women's MMA has progressed so quickly. I remember most fights being kinda sloppy just a few years ago.

I forget their names, but I also rewatched the straw-weight championship match on the same card as the last Rousey fight... drat... I couldn't believe the kicks and combos they were stringing together. It was beautiful to watch. I mean, I can't fight my way out of a paper bag, but their technique looked pretty awesome to me.

It was Joanna Champion :getin:

Many of the female UFC fighters started with MMA because their boyfriends were fighters and they wanted to try it, or somebody at their gym said they should take a lesson. Bethe Correia was a fat accountant who wanted to lose weight. We like Paige VanZant because she can take a beating and have some good wins, but without her pretty face, she wouldn't be here. Through luck or connections, they managed to end up in the UFC.

Joanna on the other hand, had 50 professional kickboxing fights before being asked to fight in the UFC.

she seems fun

She did manage to create a pretty good narrative for herself too by beating up Rondas clubmates in order to get a title shot with Ronda. She told Ronda not to kill herself if she lost, not knowing (or maybe knowing) that Rondas father killed himself. She also yelled "Don't cry" at Ronda during the weighins.

In the fight Ronda knocked her out in 30 seconds with strikes, making it the first UFC female knockout, and Ronda yelled "Don't cry" at her while walking away from her.

All in all one of the more interesting actual storylines in the UFC.

This isn't true. I believe Cat Zingano had the first knockout against Meisha Tate. Unless we're talking about the difference beaten KOs and TKOs.

Yeah, it was the first real KO, not TKO. Bethe faceplanted pretty good!
