It wouldn't surprise me if it's partly true (some dipshit "special" teens / juggalos doing dumb poo poo in the woods) and partly kids hyping and inflating something into a bigger thing than it is. I know when I was a kid, there were scary rumors among the other kids about child-abducting hobos in the woods near where I lived, kids talking about hooded people killing random kids in bags down by the river, the obsessions about Freddy Kreuger and Jason being real and living together in the sewer, all that jazz. Was this common elsewhere, or did I just live in a town full of particularly morbid and gruesome-minded kids?

There's been cases of clown infestations in the past which have turned out to be real. This one was photographed a bunch of times: Northampton Clown Terrorizes English Town Just By Standing Around  Reporters eventually figured out his identity (mostly due to a short documentary called "The Local Clown" he'd posted online a few months earlier) and he turned out to be just some guy. There was also the Wasco, California clown infestation of 2014, Gags the Green Bay Clown and Spot the Burnley Clown Edit: poo poo, there was also the Killer Clown of West Palm Beach, a murder case back in 1990 that was apparently never solved.
