Sorry for the necro but I have to say the ending of this game is supremely loving bad and it pains me to say it. There is so much bullshit time wasting backtracking in this game it's driving me insane. This is easily my least favorite DQ game and I'm only going to finish it out of sheer stubbornness. Why would they edit the start of the game to make it more streamlined while leaving the rest of the oldgame bullshit in? What were they THINKing..

Party members leave randomly, GG any progress you were making on their jobs and all their equipment -- just instantly gone without warning. Oh hope you left this guy as a viable solo class cos guess what at the end you have to run around the world infested with random encounters every half step just to trigger a dialogue that unlocks the same loving dungeon you've already completed THREE Mother loving Times before, then you have to climb it for the fourth time by yourself. If you were training him as a priest i guess that's GG. Start over from your 80 hour file bitch. Classic Games were for Rreal GAMERS loving bullshit. gently caress off

Idk if you're gonna do the post game but you have to beat the first post game dungeon 4 times without changes before it unlocks the True Post game dungeon, which is just one room with a boss that's easier than the other one.

I'm playing DQ8 for the first time because of the 3DS version and it's extremely warm and cozy. I'm into the second half (I guess? Just unlocked the casino) of the story and am enjoying just being able to go wherever I want and take photos, collect monsters and medals, grind slimes and make loads of money. It's a good chill time.
