The best part about doom Patrol is it uses all but the lovely Byrne run.

I enjoyed the Arcudi Doom Patrol quite a bit, even though [because] it was basically like 22 issues of infighting, failure, and weirdness. Very little actual super-teaming, even when they were doing exactly that.

I honestly forgot all about this and haven't seen a reference to this series yet.

Young Animal's on my pull list for the first 6 of each series, then I'll wait for sales.
This plan has only led to more fun each Wednesday. DC made a series of good calls with this imprint.

It was ok. Maybe I should give it a re-read because I already forgot what happened in that first issue.

I am really enjoying all 4 series, and will be giving the new stuff a chance. I wasn't that big of a fan of Way as a musician, but as a comic imprint curator, he's done great things. On a related note, I picked up his Killjoys run in a bundle from the clearance of my LGS for $8, I'm hoping it ends up good.

So uh I just read Keith Giffen's run to prepare for this, because Morrison's Doom Patrol is still my favorite comic.
People actually liked this comic? People actually thought this was a good use of Morrison's stories? People actually thought mr. nobody smashing the toys face in was good comics and not just the usual dc trash? I really hate Dc comics at this point and this run was full of reminders why.

I like the new young animal comic alright but I kind of wish they'd just have started a new continuity with a similar ideas and themes instead of continuing to drag out a long and confused continuity with characters who don't really have anywhere to go now. Make some original new characters with super powered injuries. I just really don't like continuity and passing characters between writers at this point.

Yep I liked it.

Edit: I'm thinking about dropping Shade. 6 issues in and the art is gorgeous, but I'm not thrilled by the story.

I'm not sure Giffen's run carries much acclaim at all. All you'll ever hear about is the Morrison's and maybe the original.
e: Saying that, I'd really like to try Arcudi's series. That's the one they don't care enough to put on Comixology.

I didnt love it but it was pretty fine mos tof the way thru (though i wish they'd just avoided Mr. Somebody because it was pointless). I did love how they ended it, though. Having Ambush Bug tell the villains the book was cancelled and they just decide "Oh, never mind then. See ya!" and walking away from the teased fight was such a bizarre way to end the book.

fake edit: "Cancelled? How? No, I have no clue what a Didio is!"

It's indicative of the trend that Doom Patrol can't hit its deadlines. They'll get someone more on the ball. At my shop, at least, Cave, Doom Patrol, and Shade all have a decent number of people with it on their pull list, Mother Panic is less so, but still higher than stuff like Blue Beetle, Birds of Prey, or Hellblazer.

From the YA panel at Wondercon, Doom Patrol #7 will be released in July.

And Bug will kick off an event later in the year which will tie the comics together in some way.

Was it me, because I loved Giffen's Doom Patrol.

It was way more of a Keith Giffen comic than a Grant Morrison comic and it was sort of smashing up a bunch of Morrison detritus with Giffen detritus with general DC detritus so jumping from 1993 Grant Morrison to 2010 DC Universe is undoubtedly jarring but I'd take that over whatever sort of tone-deaf cover band thing going on in the current DP book any day of the week.
