There will never be a point where we aren't racing towards higher resolutions and more consistent framerates until our desktops can display a scene that literally appears real, like you were looking through the monitor into a window, without ever dropping a frame or tearing the screen, or we're all too busy trying to find drinkable water and bullets for the guns we've welded to our cars

Those external gpu enclosures would be good if they didn't cost as much as a low end system minus the gpu. If they cost literally a quarter of the current cost and had standard support for extra high speed storage then maybe they'd be good. Even then mobile cpus are generally half as powerful as their desktop counterparts.

mitx is the way to go, got this case for my new build (fractal design nano s) you can fit two radiators in it no problem, or a tall tower cooler because of the width getting all the cables onto the mobo was a bit of a pain but the end result is awesome, dead quiet too

I bought a <$300 ASUS laptop because I was broke and needed some quick entertainment. It doesn't play games rendered in 3D, the trackpad stopped working and I had to drunkenly karate chop the CD drive off the machine on the third day but other than that it's working out great.

my pc is plugged into my tv and I play games on it, mostly because is trivial and 99% of games are not worth paying for and the other ones are not worth what they charge for them. I also took black nail polish and blacked out every external light because computers that shine a shitload of flashy annoying colors are for babies

Used it as a media centre before, now it handles home automation mostly.
