We then agreed that most people who have played significant time at high level hockey have probably been subject to this, even if they weren't great players at the pro or major junior level, because at one point, or another, even if they were only 13, they were the best guy on the ice. It's well-documented that at 14 years of age, Gretzky left the town he was born in and lived in all of his life up to that point because he was usually getting booed and verbally harassed by jealous parents.
