Imprisoning another human being deprived both them and their captors of their humanity and decency. Fines and summary execution are the new law, your position has been absorbed.

Every corrections story I've ever heard confirms that the system consists of doodoo people bring watched by peepee people who all deserve to be in prison together, minus the innocent and nonviolent offenders

I worked county lock up for a year post Navy. My favorite were the mental health folks who ate their own doo-doo.

And lady period blood artists.

I considered myself a babysitter for lovely kids with oppositional defiant disorders... I never thought about inmates crimes cause I didn't give a gently caress.
I liked opening their mail and sending the porno pics their nasty pimple pussied girlfiends tried to send them to their property bags.

If the inmates were being annoying I'd wait til they got really into a show and turn off the tv's 5 minutes before the show ended.

So did acting like someone's bitchy mom pay dividend or could the inmates not relate to the experience?

What I'm really curious about is, what's the worst thing you've seen while working in corrections?

I saw a guy one time, he flattened a straw, stuck it up into his eyelid, and used it to pry his eyeball out of its socket, and then, he just stood there, staring at his reflection in the window, like no big deal, while he twisted the straw around his optical nerve. It was pretty crazy how he was just completely calm the whole time. No facial expressions, no squinting or flinching at the pain. Nothing. As if he was doing something as mundane as brushing his teeth. I've seen lots of other crazy stuff, but that's the one that gave me pause.

The state of Louisiana has locked up innocent men for like, three decades a half dozen times.

Maybe we shouldn't be mad about person doing X job. At the end of the day people need to put food on their table and we still need a place to put criminals. The shittiness of the system itself is a different discussion and thankfully DND has a thread for that very discussion!

Yeah these troops put their uniforms on, pack their asses with contraband cellphones/heroin/pcp/pills and march to work to keep miscreants separated from society! I for one welcome the chance to discuss the most heinous stories emanating from one of the most shameful aspects of Justice in the United States.
