if you don't like a particular bit of history read another bit, there's plenty to pick from it helps you understand what adults are talking about so you're not just wandering around chuckling at your own farts (though you can still do that even after you've read some books)

seriously if you're not teaching pure philosophy you have to get into the content which means the person teaching it has to know something about that content. there's lots of history though so people tend to specialise e: this is why you shouldn't trust any book claiming to be a history of the world
