The concept is sound, but some of the engineering bits, especially around handling parts of the fuel cycle need work. It's probably going to take several years of expensive prototyping to hash out the details before anyone is serial producing commercial reactors. IIRC, India was actually planning on building a thorium plant in the near future, possibly before china.
