Yeah -- if you can find one more person I think I can still reinstate you. But I need an even number of teams. Draft is Monday.

Just drafted this team in the 2nd year of a 12 team keeper league:

1. (12) Joe Pavelski C,RW
2. (13) Corey Perry RW
3. (36) Phil Kessel RW
4. (37) Henrik Lundqvist G
5. (60) Patrice Bergeron C
6. (61) Oliver Ekman-Larsson D
7. (84) Wayne Simmonds RW
8. (85) Jason Spezza C

9. (108) Jeff Skinner LW
11. (132) Ondrej Palat LW
12. (133) Andre Burakovsky LW
13. (156) Scott Hartnell LW
14. (157) Ryan Suter D
14. (166) Robin Lehner G
15. (180) Connor Hellebuyck G

16. (181) Nikolaj Ehlers LW,RW
17. (204) Mikael Granlund C
18. (205) Mattias Ekholm D
19. (228) Jesse Puljujarvi RW
20. (229) John Gibson G
21. (252) Thatcher Demko G
22. (253) Zachary Werenski D
23. (276) Dylan Larkin C,RW
24. (277) Jakob Chychrun D
25. (300) Pavel Buchnevich LW

Bold are keepers from last year (+1 round, Larkin same round you get your last guy free if he's in the last 5 rounds, so Chychrun/Buchnevich will be eligible if they last on the team all year)

Palat-Pavelski-Perry
Skinner-Bergeron-Kessel
Hartnell-Spezza-Simmonds
Ehlers-Granlund-Larkin
EX: Burakovsky, Puljujarvi, Buchnevich

OEL-Suter
Werensky-Ekholm
Chychrun-?

Lundqvist
Gibson
Lehner
Hellebuyck
NA: Demko

How does it look? I think it's solid; the only category that I don't feel super confident in is faceoffs (loaded up on W eligible C last year and won every week but everyone else caught on to that this year and I couldn't do it again). I think there's some pretty good value there.

Also, with stashing Demko, I now have a roster spot open for a 6th D. These look like the best options in no particular order. Thoughts on who I should grab?

The world is a fine place and worth the fighting for and I hate very much to leave it.
Hey hockey thread, I'm doing a 10 team league with some friends this year and was wondering how much starting two goalies affects drafting. Is it like a 2QB league for football where they should be the first players off the board? I'm picking 2nd in the snake draft and am wondering if I should grab a goalie first.

It depends on the persons' drafting strategy. A goalie isn't as important in a two goalie league as a quarterback in a 2QB league, but you'd probably want to start looking at one in the 4th or 5th round (although in a 10-team league, you may be able to get away with drafting them slightly later). If you're drafting 2nd, you should only be focusing on a top forward.

I should mention that I'm not one to draft goalies super early, but I'd let people draft Holtby and Price early, and focusing shoring up your offense.

I took Lundqvist at 4.1 in the 2nd year of my 12-team, two goalie, keeper league (so really like 5th round after all of the kept players above him) and Crawford at 5.6 the first year. That's about as early as I go on a goalie and only if I'm not enamored with any of the skaters (usually forwards) available.

17. (247) Vladimir Tarasenko (K)  (StL - RW) $44
18. (248) Mark Stone (K)  (Ott - RW) $3

I think I lucked out on Eichel and Scheifele, and that plus a few good keepers means I might do well. If Little rebounds that could be a hell of a value pick. I should have been more aggressive with goaltending, though, and I still don't know why I chose Bogosian over a number of possibly better options that got drafted later.

My plan was to come out with some good potential keepers for next season, which I think I managed to do, but I really should've gone for another top end guy early, no sense having this much unused salary.

I paid way too much for Bob and Gardiner/Kronwall were autos (my stamina was waning/I was distracted) who will most likely be dropped. I think it's probably playoff capable though. Eh well I might keep Gardiner and see how he does but gently caress Kronwall.

Acquisition budgets have been adjusted based on unused dollars in the draft (everyone gets a base of $100 plus whatever you didn't use).

This was probably the most interesting HHL draft yet. You basically couldn't get a top end player for less than $90-$100 which is honestly probably the right way to go based on past results (although we'll see if one of these years one of those stingy GMs who hoards all the depth guys can win it/do well).

That was my "strategy" the previous 4 years and it decidedly did not work any of those years. This year I decided to change it up and spend all my money, and I'm pretty happy with my team:
