I thought Jake didn't rent from Gina? What they ended up doing, I thought, was having Gina move into the place they both wanted because Gina was scared about safety in her old one and because Jake wanted to prove he was responsible by moving into a really lovely place that he could actually afford due to his being bad with money. It's been a while since I watched it but that's what I remember - unless it was another show.
