Even the hardier breeds are still quite fragile. Horses are just the worst. And your average horse will only be in prime riding condition for 10-15 years max. Then they'll hang around for another 10-15 increasingly expensive years out of sheer spite. Horses are assholes, and knowingly take full advantage of it no longer being socially acceptable to turn them into glue.
