Worldwalker_Pure posted:There's free DLC for the Vita and PS4 versions where the game gives you duplicate versions of every character except Kigurumi; they have alternate God Arcs, Blood Arts, and skill loadouts and their outfits are in a different color. You can only take them on Free Missions, but they count as separate characters from their originals, so you could, say, double up on bringing Kanon to a mission. I can confirm that stuff is in the PC version too.

I've two copies of the game. one's the steam install, the other is a copy I have on another HDD to help out recording performance. The one on the different HDD doesn't have the update with the alternative characters and outfits. Tangentially related, the game has a sanity check that prevented possible save corruption, so kudos to the developers for that. @Worldwalker_Pure What would you like to see then, with the alternate characters? edit: As they are right now, they're all essentially dramatically different versions of the normal characters. Some have different armaments, some keep the same ones they've been using. And I'm pretty sure none of them share the same Blood Arts. Nana's a healer right out of the box for example.

Yeah, the fact that they all have different Blood Arts is part of the point, although I admit it's easier to tell if you're a crazy person like me and memorized what everyone's Blood Arts were in the first place. Honestly, just showing off a few of them would be nice. Maybe Kanon, Nana, and Emil? You could talk about how their default skills are different if you wanted, too, since that seems interesting.

My guess is that while Haru is completely optional to bring along past the Rufus Caligula fight, Lindow's guaranteed to of been in your group more than once, and he already comes with several skills learned. So if some players were just bringing a static group of 2-3 God Eaters, and they've been forced to bring Lindow, he won't be that much of a handicap compared to their usual group. Fortunately, I like Lindow and he's been getting upgrades as I play.

There's also the in-story perspective where Lindow internally produces his own Bias Factor thanks to his aragami arm, which is really handy for an extended search-and-rescue mission since they'd be able to bring along extra Bias Factor for Gil to insure he gets back. But yeah Lindow is also one of the better/cooler NPCs you can bring along so most players will have probably kept him up to date.

It's designed for mobility, most enemies have at least one point on their body it's good against, and it's fairly easy to figure out the Blood Arts it uses. Also I'm terrible at Monster Hunter but I've managed to fully complete both God Eater games, so there's that.

I am probably biased in saying this however I'd recommend Buster Blade and Charge Spear for that. Sitting in the first couple of practice missions to get your bearings and handling on weaponry is likewise something I'd recommend. Buster Blade's light ground swings horizontally, while heavy attacks vertically. Aerial attacks are a rather simple light to heavy, or just heavy to return to the ground. Charge Crush is likewise a simple affair of just holding down a button and landing your attack, and can teach you timing with the Aragami's attacks. I don't use the special action parry all that often because I am really bad at timing in the game and there's just so many attacks I would have to learn the timing on. I typically use it as a method to continue ground combos if I do use it. Charge Spear is a straight forward weapon; the light ground combo makes sweeping attacks, while the heavy makes a series of thrust attacks on a single point. Light aerial is a 1-2 attack, and you can finish it with a diving heavy attack. The special attack just charges your spear and sends you dashing forward. When you use the special action for this weapon class, you dash backwards and are launched into the air where you can continue into a aerial. I feel that Short and Long Blades require a bit more finesse out of a player, and Boost Hammer and Variant Scythe will leave you open for long periods of time. No weapon is outright worse than the other, and you can go the entire game without swapping to another weapon class. Disclosure: The weapons I have the most time played with from least to most are Short Blade, Long Blade, Boost Hammer, Charge Spear, Variant Scythe and Buster Blade. Damage-wise, Buster Blades deal slashing and/or crushing in varying amounts, while Charge Spears deal mostly in piercing. On medium to large Aragami, pay attention to what parts NPCs are shooting or attacking. They will, usually, prioritize parts weak to piercing bullets with their guns, and parts weak to their melee attacks. Ciel is a rather good NPC buddy with a sniper gun. She can demonstrate weak locations with her gun, and can keep you healed up when you're still learning the ropes. Gun parts are largely a matter of preference. Assault Guns can spam the bejeebers as shown in the dream video but deal little damage. Sniper Guns are point and click hitscan. They can deal large amounts of damage but you have to be accurate with'em if not using a Head Definite Hit bullet. Blast Guns, well you've seen how they act in the majority of my videos; they've got a lot of room in the Bullet Editor to make effective bullets with. And shotguns are point blank mag dumps. Now, shields. I've been leaning heavily on the Kurogane line of shields because of one very special skill that's rare to find on any other shield; Reduced Guard Damage (lvl 10). This eliminates chip damage taken while guarding. The game doesn't outright teach you how to guard until Difficulty Tier 3, when you first face a Borg Camlann in the mission "Scorpion Sunday." When you reach that mission, it would behoove you to learn the tell for the tail sweep attack. The Aragami screeches, drops a shield arm to the ground, while keeping the other up near its mouth, then does the sweep. All Borg Camlann variants do this exact same animation tell. If you don't learn how to guard, or otherwise avoid this attack, you will have a bad time later in the game. I ran the mission several times to get this lesson down pat, and from there I then applied to other Aragami attacks. Another important skill to learn is how and when to Devour. There are two types of Devouring; charged and quick. Charged Devour gives you a full burst bar, and 3 Aragami bullets you can transfer. Quick Devour gives you half a burst bar, and 1 bullet. Charged is slow (but is affected by Charged Ability Speed skill) so you only want to use that on Aragami downed, held, or unaware of your presence. Quick lets you get a quick bite in, and can be used, typically, in between Aragami attacks. Charged is like the Buster Blade, or Charge Spear - You hold the button down then release when the God Arc's mouth gets large enough. Quick you perform by interrupting a ground combo, or from out of guarding. The game has good documentation, for the most part, with the Database. If there are terms you are unfamiliar with, the it's likely to be in there. Articles belonging to weapon usage are located in the System Terms category. edit: With regards to the Blood Arts bit, I did show off all of the Blood Arts, or nearly so, with Buster Blades and Variant Scythes. Some, obviously, I've shown more than others.

Okay, I'll tell her that it's a direct order from the captain, then!" : "It seems that Aragami attacks have calmed down greatly. I might actually be able to take it easy. I was thinking of showing my face back home, actually. It's on the edge of the Outer Ghetto. My mom and dad live there. Here are the details...Eliminate all Aragami standing in the way of the recovery of a seriously damaged manned Soldier in a four-phase mission spanning from the Changing Divine Gate to the Lush Sanctuary. Tatsumi and Brendan at at the bar, Karel and Shun playing billiards, and Kanon and Gina are watching a program on the flat screen. : "Missions at the Far East are different lately. Just having Hibari as the operator makes a huge difference. Wait, where is she, by the way?": "Hibari is teaching operations to Teruomi and Urara. She took them and went off to the lobby!""Aw, that's a letdown. And just when I was hoping to drink the night away with her, too! Raising his voice so the entire Unit can hear him. This place is important to us too.": "Ever since the IC came, I've gotten used to being watched. I mean, I'm a lot more virtuous now, but...": "The IC has upped the budget for sacred ground research, so the missions arel ooking really juicy! That means that there will be less people around in the lounge, which is a little sad to think about...": "I went back to my hometown recently, and for some reason I'm the local hero! I look forward to seeing what kind of flowers grow from the strong seeds that you have sown."... : "I've received a new mission for Blood. Here's the details.In the outer Forest, a Ravana has been detected, presumably tracking down fiery Cocoon Maidens. Normally this would be a milk run, however we've also detected a bias field response indicating a Blitz Hannibal is lurking around. It's likely that the death of the Ravana will lure the Blitz Hannibal out of hiding. Exercise extreme caution, and eliminate all Aragami present." There's only a limited amount and this update is likely the last time I'll be transcribing NPC banter as I believe I've found all permutations. As for the LP itself, there's still several more missions with story tied to them and some incredibly dangerous Aragami I haven't showcased as of yet. Not to mention Julius, Livie (the rest of hers) and Romeo's character episodes, and some other miscellaneous items I haven't shown off as of yet. edit: And of course, as I start recording, I get a fourth permutation of the npc rotation. Man, you really get some bang for your bucks when you buy this game. There's been several times when I've thought that the main plot is over only for it to continue on instead but not in a bad way, though.
