TFA is lame and nutless in a way the prequels never were, and Harry was just about the right level of critical toward it. Discussion of TFA only takes up 30% of the TFA review because there's nothing to talk about. It's a big nothing. The prequels are certainly something, even if they're bad.

I recall it kept a couple of the characters (Jonny and Dizzy) but put them in the power armor of the book and they fought the skinnies (humanoid alien enemies) too.

They didn't drop nukes as casually as they did in the book, though.

I love the Verhoven movie especially how wrong people get it sometimes. So many people thought it was a straight up love letter to fascism.

I like Starship Troopers, but I will say it's impossible to make an ironically fascist movie in the same way it's impossible to make ironic pornography. Fascism is inherently sexy.

Its just setting you up for how much of a dumpster fire Kong is going to be.

I would love if RLM did a short video on the Kong trailer because its really loving... odd. It does that weird thing where there's a mini-trailer before the trailer, then it starts out like a normal trailer, then about half-way through it completely switches to a different action-packed trailer, then its just scene after scene of bullets and fighting and I have no idea wtf is going on.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44LdLqgOpjo

1:16 is where the trailer should have ended but its just goes on and on with the action scenes.

It's like two separate trailers in a row

There's plenty of good comedy still to be found, it's really just that the prominent Apatow-Fieg brand of comedy takes up all the air in the room and is what we consider straight "Comedy" these days, and it's really played out. The 40 Year Old Virgin was funny though.

I've become more and more convinced Taco Bell would win the fast food wars. It's the best.

I was surprised they thought McDonald's would just waltz on through. They are on a huge decline and have been for a long time. McDonalds is so desperate they broke the emergency glass case of "all day breakfast" and it only provided temporary gains. Their reputation is in the toilet and no one actually likes their food. They just go there cause it's closest.

McDonalds in the franchise wars would be much like Britain in WW2. They'd survive, but they'd no longer be considered a superpower by the end of it.
