The contradiction is obvious to normal people, but they're able to reconcile it because it's a self-worth/ego thing. The government is wily and manipulative, they just happen to be among the chosen few who see through the bullshit because they're smart, independent-thinking, etc. Never point out that most of them get their "inside knowledge" fed to them by media personalities like Jones or live in a smaller, more impenetrable ideological bubble than any of their mainstream Democrat or Republican friends and family members.

Alex Jones hasn't been assassinated because while he reports on things that actually turn out to be true he mixes it in with enough ridiculous bullshit and snake oil salesman shilling that most people disregard him. His position on Trump is that while he disagrees with him on several issues, he is far and away a better choice than Hillary. I don't get the Alex Jones / Hicks thing. despite a vague physical appearance and a tendency to excitedly rant there is no similarity. Hicks was an 'edgy' leftist post hippie liberal guy who was sometimes funny and Jones is a sad as gently caress right wing nut job who is never funny. Not intentionally anyways.
