I still managed to get through the entire series, so it must have had some entertainment value, but mostly it was just depressing. I struggle to find a point beyond "cute girl gore", and it felt like they just tacked on poo poo for shock value, like pregnancy and whatnot. Maybe it got more development in the novels to make it less artificial.
