Arrow is where all of the magic stuff is being parked right now what with Dahrk last season and Ragman this season.

A Fate series based off of the comics would be nice, but at this point there might be a bit of saturation.

I'm sure there are plans for a Legion episode or arc forward and back. Probably also an episode about her future/alternate universe and calling herself Power Girl.

Like I said earlier, she got shot down HARD by her very first gal, and just a day or two after the emotional turmoil of coming out. Maggie putting her hand over her mouth in horror as she realized what just happened really sold the loving gut punch. She knows exactly what it's going to do to her, and there's nothing she can do to stop it.

I hope the two of them do end up together since they made an incredibly cute couple really on, but Mags doesn't really owe her anything, and it's gonna get real awkward working with her girl crush. :smith: Still, both Wynn and James sacked up and handled that poo poo like adults, so I'm hopeful this doesn't go any more sideways than it has.

At least when Marvel does this, there's some connection. DC just loves reusing names with absolutely no connection. See also Atom, Mr. Terrific, the various flag-themed heroes in and about the JSA who are connected in the most ludicrous ways, etc.

At least with the Steels, the original was a golden age character who wasn't in use so "Steel" was relatively safe. Citizen Steel was a reference to that golden age character though and Steel was at least not MIA or anything so that was odd in that regard.

Some of the similarly used names were because of DC basically making new characters with old names as Silver Age reinventions as traditional (at the time) superhero comics hit a decline post-war. The silver age reinventions were a way to capitalize on the sci-fi trends of the era.

Shade and Shade, the Changing Man are probably the oddest pair of unrelated characters who were both reinvented in the 90s. The former was a recurring, though relatively minor Flash villain who appeared in both the golden and silver age and was also a foe of Starman. The latter was originally created by Steve Ditko in the 70s and then was cancelled after several issues. The former reappeared in '94 and reinvented as a mentor for the new Starman while the latter showed up as a Vertigo series as a more bizarre and reality bending version of himself that was reborn a lot.

I forget which comic it was in, but there's an issue of some DC comic where it's a bunch of robbers who're in a car talking about why which city is the worst. One talked about Gotham, another about Central City, there might've been a third one as it's revealed that they weren't actually driving the car, it was Superman hand delivering them and the last guy saying that Metropolis is the worst because Superman is jsut way too loving nice as he's aprehending them.

I need to find that one because I thought it was really amusing.

Checkmate was actually what Waller's organization was called in the comics, not ARGUS. They were less mustache twirling evil than Arrow and much more shades-of-grey DCAU. So, more of a tweener I guess: out for the greater good but willing to get her hands dirty.

I actually didn't know Checkmate was under Task Force X and not independent. I think it moved away from that in later comic books (about 10 years ago and about 20 years after its introduction) and became a more S.H.I.E.L.D. like entity that was under the UN Security Council with a number of notable members like Alan Scott (the original GL), Mister Terrific, and Maxwell Lord. At this point in comics, Checkmate is still in the same position as a UN sanctioned spy agency (I think), but it's not made much appearances outside of gatherings with other spy orgs or in the latest arc involving Lord.

Interestingly enough, Cadmus is from the 70s and was largely involved with genetic engineering and, notably, the creation of Superboy. A.R.G.U.S. is a recent invention that was introduced with the New52 and basically filled the role Checkmate did when it was introduced. I don't recall how the D.E.O. fits in with A.R.G.U.S. since both exist in the DCU and are both US agencies. Presumably one is Military and the other is Civil, but idk. I do wish Mister Bones got an appearance on Supergirl.

I do hope we get S.H.A.D.E. one day. That might push the budget too hard though depending on if they use the older version with the Freedom Fighters or the newer version with Frankenstein and the Creature Commandos.

Like I said, I don't have a problem with romance plots. What I do have a problem is when an entire episode is filled with them. Not sure why this is a controversial opinion. Yeah, it was Valentines Day. But did it ever occur to you that some people watch television as a form of escapism?

After the retarded Winn-James-Kara love triangle at the beginning of the first season, the show actually made a lot of improvements in the romance department to the point where it now explores fairly mature subtopics like Alex realizing she is into girls, Kara having to accept that she can't call dibs on Alex's time and attention whenever she wants, Jon developing feelings for someone whose race genocided his own. All that stuff is very interesting to watch.

This episode was just awful though, because the main plot point was an extremely cliche romance plot where the "villain" tries really really hard to "win over" Kara's love, and there is once again a love triangle, this time between Myx, Mon El and Kara. The whole "two potential suitors fighting over a girl" thing is just dumb as hell and I had hoped the show had moved beyond that.

I'm not certain the network has anything to do with anything. Last year it was on the CBS, and had lovely romance there too.

DEO does come off like chumps with very little power. They're secret but not autonomous. Like they had to give Roulette up? ARGUS or SHIELD would have just dissapered her rear end to some black site never seen again, same with Lilian Luther. They know they're bad news, no need for a trial.

And yea its hard to be excited at Kevin Sorbo, becuase he's just been a world class rear end in a top hat in the last few years, whining he can't get any good roles because he's conservative. Putting out God's not Dead which has it's moral if you don't believe in god, you deserve to die horribly.

I figured CatCo being a media conglomerate has a magazine but also a newspaper. It has a TV station too I think.

The DEO didn't have Amanda "The Wall" Waller at the head of the department getting poo poo done. ARGUS is deeper in the "You must be this Top Secret to know about this" ladder than the DEO. It's the same in the comics iirc.

Lobo's also part of the "Last of his kind" club alongside J'onn and Kara. Of course, Lobo's race went extinct because of him, but that's besides the point. I think the only tricky bit is finding someone close to Lobo's proportions that can also act at the level of the rest of the cast.

Zod again? Seriously? That's just kind of lazy. And if he's in the finale then that means they're setting hi up as a big bad for at least part of Season 3. Sigh.

Anyway, this episode was kind of lame. Especially when coming back from a too-long hiatus, but whatever. I'm glad CWDCTV shows are back at least.

Oh also, I think they've been setting up this Kara and Lena thing the whole time just so when Lena goes bad at some point it'll be more dramatic. I mean, it's kind of predictable and I'm sure I'm not the first to say it, but it parallels certain interpretations of Clark and Lex's relationship in the stories where they were some level of friends before they were enemies.

Was there any comic precedence for this episode's villains?

They've really been pushing it, but at the same time, making it so that there's no betrayal makes it a little surprising in that way.

It was definitely a fun episode, if a little by the numbers. The Snapper-Kara plot was good and I really like him, even if he's not part of the A-cast (unless they decide to give him his comic book powers). I do feel like there's a bit of a problem of having Win's girlfriend go fight crime unmasked, even with the escort of Jimmy/Guardian. It feels like it's just asking for more retaliation against her or aliens in general

The cat-eating alien thing is also a reference to Alf.

Writing fan material is no more inherently weird or non-constructive than, say, posting on forums or buying and customizing toys. Maybe some shippers take it too far, but I've seen just as much pointless cruelty and non-constructive behavior from people who never touch doing creative stuff.

Every aspect of fandom culture has the capacity to turn into something weird, cruel, or embarrassing. Call out the stupid when it arises but there's nothing inherently wrong with people who like to write stories about Kirk and Spock kissing and whatnot.

I'm sure there's a line and the loudest and most standout portions of fandom are probably over the line especially since part of that line is the self-declaration of being part of the fandom versus merely being a fan.

Also, there's just something off-putting shipping live action characters vs. animated or drawn characters.
