bravely second is really so freaking good. Maybe IT is just better at jrpgs than I am because I set the battle rate to default and got smoked by one boss, I never felt op. I'm actually stuck on one boss right now but I passed like 5 hours playing the incremental clicker mini game lol

There's a custom special move mechanic I want to figure out. It looks like it gives you the option to choose a catch phrase, music, and style but it doesn't seem to work

The special move stuff is part of the street pass system so good luck ever havin it work well

I've also done the two bosses and barely beat both on my last turn before I would have wiped so I'm not like godlike at this or anything. I remember a lot of basic strats from BD1 that work well in the early game when you don't have any jobs

absolutely anything posted:

its not just streetpass you get em from online friends too

Oh I was thinking of summons oops

Those are the parts and triggers you get from the incremental clicker which is the one part of the game I really don't like

The fencer/bishop fight was rough, I went through like 25 potions to stay alive but I prevailed. I like when bosses give XP in JRPGs, sometimes they don't which is kind of a let down

They need to stop pronouncing Ba'al as Balls

In Training
Jun 28, 2008

Oh they put an actual idler in this game. That's bizarre

In Training

The difficult takes a noticeable step up once you reach the first real continent, I need to get some more jobs!

In Training
Jun 28, 2008

I'm kinda bummed that you have to choose between job classes because they set up a little conflict and it's both sides pleading their case so choose a side!! But the only thing that matters is which job you get , so why bother. Also the thief is kicking my rear end.

In Training
Jun 28, 2008

It took me like 5 tries but I beat the thief.

In Training
Jun 28, 2008

It was worth it bc triple wielding thief is shredding rear end

Red and Blue mages are underwhelming in every FF game they're in I think

Blue mages typically pwn actually.

It usually never really seems worth it to bother with learning the spells and stuff. 7 is an exception because anybody can have the enemy skill materia, so you don't have to sacrifice regular magic or stats to get it. Maybe they're good in V I've only played tht game in fiesta and haven't gotten a blue Mage

Khimari is the saddest blue Mage ever

In Training

Oh but the FFX2 blue Mage was pretty cool because they turned the enemies into guns

red mages are good specifically in bravely default, cos they have that one BP increasing support move.

Oh yeah. Well I'll get red Mage eventually I suppose. I remember having access to a lot of BP manipulation moves in the end game was super imported in the first BD

Idk how I'm gonna beat summoner so I may just go for Swordmaster. Her boss battle seems loco

In Training
Jun 28, 2008

Swordmaster is equally messed up...hmmm. Now I'm conflicted.

In Training
Jun 28, 2008

Yeah definitely, it's just every single add one shots me right now so I can't even go one or two turns in either fight. I'll try doing more of the story to see if that's more manageable

In Training
Jun 28, 2008

Yeah I start out with an evade mist that helps a lot. What gets me is if someone gets confused. I've only got one of the bracers that protects against it, wish I could buy some more

In Training

He just keeps using multitask and wiping out my entire team in one turn before I can do anything...

In Training
Jun 28, 2008

I wish bosses just had a retry button because there is a save point immediately before every single one so it makes you redo all the text.

In Training
Jun 28, 2008

Yeah but even so. It's minor but idk why it doesn't let you do that

In Training
Jun 28, 2008

Got through the adds and figured I could play defensive and beat the boss but his AI is annoying. I kept defaulting because I knew he was alternating between using Nothing Ventured and braving 4 times but he just kept using nothing ventured nonstop until I finally just used an attack so then he braved 4 times and wiped me out. Felt like a fighting game boss reading your inputs unless I just got unlucky

*releases a deep contented sigh releasing all my stress*

I thought I had it easy on this turn since he had 600 health and I used my magic guys to just stack darts and out of nowhere on the last turn he used the magic parry move which confirms to me that he reads inputs because it was the first time I used magic all battle. But I have persevered

Lmao this is the blue Mage. Awesome

In Training
Jun 28, 2008

Same here, even though I entered at the max suggested level, but that happens in every dungeon kinda. I should keep exploring but the OCD in me wants to go track down all available blue Mage skills right now.

In Training
Jun 28, 2008

I did it because there's only like 2 because I don't currently have access to a way to confuse enemies afaik.

In Training

I finished Bravely Second chapter 1. final boss for it was tricky, looking forward to getting the gun class in the enxt chapter (or later?)

I basically had 2 healers and 1 damage dealer each of magic and physical so I could balance the heads and withstand attacks

In Training
Jun 28, 2008

I died one time to him because I had edea in Swordmaster and she countered and healed a worm which pissed me off.

In Training
Jun 28, 2008

Yeah BD2 is kinda like X-2 where they just reuse 90% of the map and add in extra dungeons, while having better gameplay

In Training

FFIX is an amazing game, the moreso for the fact that in the long storied history of FF, it's the only main title that tried doing the throwback and it pulls it off perfectly

its also really hard to buy digitally because for some reason its considered a CERO-Z release which is the japanese ESRB rating for a porno game so you have to jump through multiple authentication hoops to purchase it currently
