I started watching Fear the Walking Dead a couple weeks ago and I am almost at the end of s2.

This show seems a lot better than TWD but I remember fans making GBS threads all over it.

It is better, but the characters suck and make bad decisions and then the show starts to get as dumb at TWD. It's probably easier to stomach on a binge, but watching it week-to-week was torture, personally.

Honestly, the world-building on this show is one of its worst aspects. The last place that felt somewhat real was the farmhouse and even that was pretty lovely...

Hilltop comes close, but it's basically SCA cosplay and doesn't even get that right: how many people live there? Where do they live? What buildings are there besides the manor and the clinic? We've been there 5(?) seasons now and I cannot imagine a visual layout or map of the site, which can't be much larger than a football field. I'm going to guess that the production team doesn't even have a map in their series bible for how all of this poo poo is laid out.

That's the worst part of it for me: all of that world-building is already done for them. Compare this to how a show like The Expanse adapts its source-material and there's really no excuse...
