yeah sometimes there's some really useful info on it.

also look at the outputs and see if anything can be made simpler in the code. maybe you don't need to check for one thing after another has been fired off. maybe you notice something about the values of xbus inputs that can help to route that packet more easily. maybe you can see a shortcut (without brute forcing it, I mean)

once you have blockers you can make AND gates, which are very useful

yup, and pushers can make OR gates. just need a NOT and i'm cooking with gas

ofc blockers are also the infinifactory equivalent of spacechem's sync node, which were very necessary. so that helps a lot too

why would you need to build an OR gate instead of just connecting two input wires to an output wire?

oh you mean like wire-based AND gates, i was just thinking of it in terms of allowing a block through based on input blocks

e- that's the puzzle i was on the last time I was looking at the game

---

what is the wiring to make an AND gate out of a blocker? it seems like everything has to be an OR gate because of the way the sensors work but i'm obviously dumb

and it scales to any number of inputs.

its especially useful combined with a lifter if you need to weld a bunch of blocks vertically

Most people on my list have 400+ for that one, not too bad. I was stuck there for awhile until a lightbulb turned on. Now I gotta find out how someone did it in under 130.

Power is just number of instructions executed in the worst test case.

nope gently caress it im done with spacechem. stuck on nothing works. not enough room to swing a loving cat on those boards.

I think I need to enforce a strict "no peeking" rule for Shenzhen IO. like there's apparently some super efficient way to complete the 2nd puzzle but it's based on undocumented behavior which is bad practice (what if they change the CPU spec? will it work if your company switches to a nominally compatible CPU from another manufacturer?)

Definitely no peeking - find that stuff yourself, it's more fun.

That said.... undocumented behavior owns, gently caress the spec.
