IIRC, there were some "SSB+Walls" type banners in JP, post-curation, though I could be recalling that wrong.

If I am recalling that right, it might explain the phrasing while still being curated. Have to see.

I just had to burn 180 Stamina with my mage, then my A-Team, then a DIFFERENT variant on my A-Team, to kill that stupid spider.

It came down to Wrathing Rosa's Medica over and over again and sandbagging early so I could Shout after the Spider Webs, because it turns out there's only the two.

The last time I remember it coming down to "having to Wrath Rosa's MBlink over and over" was Atlas U++.

2/11, Lulufocus and Twin Star.

I'm happy, Twin Star will be great months down the line when I can handle CMs and isn't even BAD on base, and Lulu's Focus is a pretty drat solid Faithga. Unfortunately the ways it is solid don't really help me as much as I'd like right now, but I'll still take it.

Also, it's two synergy armors. There's that.

I haven't seen anyone else pull Porom's hat, but it looks like a fantastic stacking physical buff with ATK/MND/Crit. The problem is fitting her into a team because even in FFIV I already have Rosa's Miracle (Protect and Shell) and Divine Heal (AoE Curaga and Magic blink). I could drop Edward from the FFIV synergy team and have Rosa on breakdown duty while Porom heals, but that would remove Full Break and Rosa wouldn't be able to abuse Wrath. The other three characters are Paladin Cecil with BSB, Kain with SSB, and Edge with SSB so getting Porom's boostga would be pretty killer.

Man, these are some great problems to have. Sorry to every who pulled a 1/11 antique relic, I got stuck with Josef's gloves ages ago in a 1/11 (and that was 50 mythril) so I know the feeling.

Yeah, you've got it summed up really well; Porom's not the best WM and can be hard to fit due to Boostga-on-WM, but drat is it a good Boostga. If you don't need the Haste, it can outclass Shout pretty easily if you're hitting the softcap at all.

Odd option. I'm glad to have it, because I like to use double healers sometimes and sometimes Y'shtola/Rosa has been overkill on reflection-Wall and two healers would be enough without a Medica on occasion.

My take on the banners; Well, at least I'll be saving 100 or so unless I get a weirdly superdud draw.

Was planning on drawing on all five once for a synergy spread, but 2 honestly would be mostly for 1%/Braskarobe and I'm just not that enthused there.

4 is, as mentioned, fairly hot garbage. I was sure they'd buff that on the lower items(Three out of four of the BSB/OSB set are new, so they're stuck there), but not really!

I'll actually have a higher chance, I think, of getting something I want out of FF5-1, because I'm mostly looking for mage gear at this stage. Ouch.

I might talk myself out of 5 as well, but I have Ninurta already so that makes Eagletalon shiny, and Onionlets look really tempting, even if the odds of getting one or the other sucks and the rest of the banner is mediocre.

doot doot did my FF5-1 pull.

... Got one Bartz Cloak. After some mythril assessment, winced hard, decided that the banner was still good for what I wanted and that I had the myth to spare, pulled again.

Went 3/11, Naginata/Dorgannsord/spare Excalibur.

The hilarious thing is, I was pulling on this for the Bursts, Sheepsong, and Moore Branch, so I basically got everything I wasn't pulling on it for, but honestly even a fairly poor OSB on a fairly badass character+a good set of extra wind for the wind team(I already have a Wind imperil and Swordshower on Luneth, and Thancred's daggers...)... well, I came out fine. No real regrets here, but man I wanted the sheeps.

The nice thing about the banner is, if you dud out, you basically still end up with solid stuff.

I pretty much did dud out for my purposes, as much as four different items across two draws could, and I still got Dorgann's "Yes, I can boostga/faithga while also dealing Swordshower damage, but oh no I lose some defense", Gilgamesh's bad OSB that just does 13x most of the time(A bad OSB is sort of like a bad Burst but moreso; It's still GOOD, it's just not AS good.), a dupe +holy sword in a common realm, and a +wind armor with an enwind on a good character.

So I mean, it's honestly better than some of the fest banners, and it's more mage oriented to boot. I have no regrets spending myth on it, even if I didn't get what I wanted out of it.

Sort of, but one of the things I've been discussing with therapists/people in general is that there's a secondary risk factor involving flow states, with the gaming/gambling model.

Generally speaking, flow states=getting in the zone, etc., produce huge amounts of feel-good chemicals and involve any time you feel both highly skilled and what you are doing is highly challenging.

Thing is(and this is key), you have to have a perception of being able to accomplish what you're doing to generate flow. And addiction, generally, is about getting a big, inordinate rush from anything+predisposition factors-super simply, that's how the disease model works.

Gaming goes for what I'm seeing as "artificial" flow states-fooling people into thinking they're accomplishing something skillful through various means-in a lot of weird ways, and mobile does it the most skeevy way of all, by making you shell out. You've literally sacrificed for your win.

It's a little disturbing, put that way.

(So sue me, I just got off a Peer Support Specialist training. I'm into this stuff.)

The solution is to just support games that aren't too horrible about it. RK is pretty nice and paying to win is fairly hard-you still need your brain, or at least some strategies you've ripped off of Reddit.

2/11, Kain BSB and some rusty useless armor.

Decent enough-it's probably the worst 1% on there... and every 1% on there is fantastic and it's probably my best beatstick Burst by a non-trivial amount now. Tin Armor's a good stat stick armor to round it out.

Wish I didn't mildly dislike Kain though. I mean c'mon man you got mind controlled how many times. Use another plot device, writers!

Jesus christ I just realized; I have two +wind gears including a dagger for weapons, and a +lightning spear. And a +wind armor. And I got it all in like, the last four draws.

Dragoons are now my good and cool friends. Well that escalated suddenly.

Actually they don't tend to even.

I've been touting Chain Bioga as The Real Flare for a while now, because it's two hits and the resistance on it is basically non-existant. Out of the upcoming Ultimate bosses(there's a neat spreadsheet someone threw on Reddit for this), it's as resisted/nulled/absorbed combined as Holy is, tied for second least. It just has like, no weaknesses. Ever.

(By the way, Darkness is the least stopped element. Weird but true.)

11 got me 3/11 WMR and two Excalibur 6.

I was pulling for either a burst, the OSB statstick potential, or Runic. I got the most likely one. Works for me.

WMR's a dupe, but whatever, it's good statistically.

Curtana's interesting; It's an Enholy breakspam burst.

Basically imagine Cecil's BSB where, instead of being a multitarget spam thing, it was a breakdown thing and did more damage, and on a way better character, and you're on the right track. (Note; It doesn't do any special breaks though. Just Attack/Magic Breakdown commands, that's all.)

It's not god tier among enelements, but it's pretty good.

As someone desperately trying to salvage my 200 mythril debacle and who has basically just Shout for Hastega, I am seeing the use of Holy Shield as "Specifically if I want to RW Vessel of Fate".

In that specific case, Minfillia is pretty much straight up better than Ramza most of the time, and I don't need the Hastega.

I thought his burst got hype in part due to Valigarmanda/full power Tiamat/Meltdown+command 2, since you can Enwind the latter two and the first one's 16.5x tri-element.

I've never mathed this out, but at the very least, the latter two seemed like such heavy hitters as to be worth it.

But yeah don't just use even normal 5* Summons like Bahamut with it. The Command 1, due to the Enwind and Powerchain, is definitely way better than that. I just was thinking the comparison wasn't as bad in the cases I listed?

It's Chouhissatsu IIRC... hissatsu is roughly "deathblow" and the japanese name for Soul Breaks. Chou pretty reasonably/commonly directly translates to ultra and IIRC they datamined the english name as Ultra(though the datamined names aren't... always the ones they use. See Overflow to Overstrike.).

Chouhissatsu is about as cliched as it possibly gets for a skill term incidentally, kinda like calling your gun a BFG or something.

Having tried to slam my head against Apoc bosses for hours with pubbies, followed by doing them with friends;

Holy poo poo is that a night and day difference. It's easy to forget how much one stupid command costs you in this game, let alone, say, a person repeatedly casting Slowga on Aiatar Apoc. Managed to get those down last minute thanks to that, which makes me happy.

Also got down Apoc Bart, wherein my role was "Wrath three full bars of Rosa's Medica and constantly spam it once we took out the shoulderpads of doom". Worked rather well!

Also man, Kain's BSB is much better than I tend to credit it. You just absolutely have to have Lightning Dive. There's no real question here.

Fun fact; When I did Bart U+, I had SS2 queued up and waiting, finger hovering over it, for the Ultimate Dispel, hit it during the animation.

And then he used his buff and Ruinga as a chained action right after it. No one could act between. He literally chainacted the entire triple thing.

Good netcode you guys have there guys. Glad we had an Ark Blast and it was the U+, or that would have potentially been a wipe.

For those still having problems with the U, a little elaboration on its mechanics;

The final enemy spams 100% chance counters of that paralysis move past half life.

Summons ignore all counters.

Alphinaud Burst is Sum-classed and will punch through this bullshit and hits weakness on the first two bosses.

Take Aerial Burst.

I've got all three of those medica SSBs, Yuffie's medica SB, Lenna's SB, Yuna's SB, Y'shtola's SB, Relm's SSB, Ovelia's SSB, and Vanille's BSB, and holy poo poo am I grateful for them once an event for those realms shows up. I couldn't do the CM for this FFIX event mostly because I lacked a medica.

Yeah, I admit, it could be a lot worse. FF8 is my worst synergy probably, too. Still disappointing given banner quality and a nasty 1/11 streak.

So after my Summon lucky draw being "ehn" despite three pulls(no bursts/OSBs at all to chain after my four 1/11 no-burst FF14 draws, though at least I got six across three draws this time and the Sheeps to go with my Ley Lines), I draw on this with the initial thought of "Well this is going to suck-NO. THIS IS GOING TO BE GOOD.".

*rainbow ball pops up* "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

Got Saintly Excalibur and two of Ovelia's Unique robes. Trying to figure out where to budget the other 50 mythril. I may throw it at Summon again, I really need more mage bursts...
