Most CMs can be done with little synergy and native SBs, but they usually require good hones, levels, a really solid plan and occasionally some luck. I basically have nothing for VIII and X and have pulled through every time.

The reddit has someonr who puts up a thread for beating the CM each event with no special items/SBs. Always a good read even if you do have good gear since the tactics are beneficial regardless.

I was certain I'd fail the first Bahamut SIN fight, ditto the first CM in FFX vs Braska. Both times help from or SA thread and the reddit discussions gave the necessary insights on team setups, necessary hones, and so on.

I've only ever used thr 2* skill Dagger Toss for one fight, and it was to slay the first CM boss. :v:

How is Faris optimally kitted out with her BSB? Since it doesn't stack with Full Break or Breakdowns do people use it more as a supplementary source of mitigation? Something like Ramza as main support and Faris as a thief, and then they swap to DPS and support when a BSB is ready?

Last fall I spent every mythril on the first XIV banner and went something like 0/45.

Then I saved for months and in the spring spent 150-200 on SSB5 and FFT but missed out on SG and Shout.

Haven't pulled on any realm-specific banners since then, just the Lucky Draws and 2 Burst Festival banners.

Patience finally paid off: Onion's BSB and a Lust Dagger on my first 11x! :woop:

I know that's worth 20 stamina to re-run with a good group, but is it worth 60 stamina to re-run solo if I don't come across a good group? Getting 6 Greaters from 2 levels of a daily would be a solid result, but there's 0 chance at a Major which may make it negative EV.

Ooh, SSB+ makes it a must-pull just for accumulating gear, hopefully the 1+ SBs will be solid too.

FFVI: Tiara SSB, plus some early Unique and Shared SBs
FFIX: Garnet SSB, plus some early Unique SBs
FFXIII: Lightning SSB, Vanille SSB, plus some early unique SBs
FFXIV: Y'Shtola SSB, plus some early unique SBs

I'd actually be A-OK with most of the potential dupes, except for another Peacemaker since I already more XIII guns than I can realistically equip.

Cid Raines' Holy Gloves

First XIV physical weapon and it's a Hastega to boot which is great. Cid's gloves appear to imperil Holy which could great with Hope and Penelo BSBs if I can obtain a Mnd+ SB down the line. The katana could provide decent CM options, especially if AoE is needed.

Indomitable Blade RW made Sorceress U++ pretty trivial, just had to save SBs for the final assault. Tempted to make an 11x pull on Banner 1 for a chase at IB, and also to try and get any of the below for the first time:

- Any SB for a physical darkness user;
- Any Insta-damage initial SB;
- Any Magic Blink;
- Any 5* VI Mind stick;
- And both CritUp and Last Stand would be brand-new as well.

I know that the most talked about future banners are XIV, OSB Fest, and Thunder God Cid, but how does this VI Banner 1 stack up with the rest of them? Does the unique nature of the AoE BSB plus the potency of Indomitable Blade + Snowspell Strike, plus my above list, make this one of the stronger banners in the coming months? Thanks for any feedback!

This isn't a bad banner at all-it has some distinctive stuff(The OSB is the only multitarget one as of JP, the Bursts are fantastic and Relm's is one of the best in general for survival) that those banners lack.

If you're doing it for Runic specifically, though, something interesting to look at is FF5's first upcoming banner-has an OSB on Gilgamesh(which isn't very good, but is on Gilgamesh), two really great Bursts for Krile and Galuf, Sheepsong, Dorgann's Boostga/Faithga, Trueblade, Galuf's weird invinco SSB, then the shared "booby prizes" are Moore Branch(Exdeath's Runic) and Bartz's Cloak(Bartz Enwind, +wind damage).

Not sure how much those are worth to you given your list is pretty specific, but it's worth mentioning since I'm currently trying to decide which I want to go for. Probably the FF5 one, though; While I need FF6 synergy more, I am dying for a Faithga. Cerberus Shell is getting old.

YoshiOfYellow posted:

Don't discount Leo's SSB on this banner either. It's got the cool feature of adjusting its damage output based on the number of targets so it's always going to do relevant damage whether you bring it to an AoE or a ST fight. To be more specific it does 480/540/600/750 potency to 4/3/2/1 targets respectively. The Imperil Holy is the cherry on top.

I picked up Runic in an old Lucky Draw and lucked out with Leo's SSB last night with the 100 gem pull. My VI relics are an old lot though, with everything dating back to summer/fall 2015 asides from Leo's sword and Terra's SSB hat. I'm fortunate enough to have been able to combine some Crystal Helms and Royal Crowns to provide sufficient stat boosts in the meantime. If a Mog item was on this banner I'd have already dropped 100+ mythril chasing it, but as it is I'm torn between "saving for future power-creep" and "ooh, unique-ish shiny items for characters from the first FF game I played".

In V I've managed to pick up BSBs for Bartz, Greg, and Faris via Festival/Lucky draws, plus a ton of non-SB armors, but you raise a good point with ExDeath offering a similar skill. Now that I think of it, my best FFV Mag relic is still a ++ Fire/Thunder Rod, so it would be a good thing to aim for regardless.

Thanks for the advice, it's super appreciated! This thread helps make this phone game more enjoyable than a lot of modern console stuff. :)

Edit: Has there been any substantive theorizing about when a FFXV event may arrive? I know that the simultaneous XIV event last fall was a surprise, so I also want to keep that possibility in mind when budgeting mythrils.

For thr orb prioritization question, here's what worked for me. Of course YMMV due to some R1 5* skills being rewards and the power creep in bonus battles.

Full Break R2 was my first 5* hone, and was my only 5* hone for many months

4* hones were Power Breakdown, Armor Breakdown, and Magic Breakdown since I primarily ran physical-Shout teams. Curaja for heals.

I honed a R4 and R3 Lifesiphon for my best SSBs, Banishing Strike for Dispel and Holy weakness, and a few other miscellaneous physical skills.

After that I hoarded until U+ CMs prompted me to hone Saints Cross, Dark Zone, Powerchain, Full Charge, and Dragoon Jump up, along with several Ajas and Dances.

Never honed anything significant for: Monks, Thieves, Summoners, Bards, Samurai, or Spellblades. Just focused on Support, Knights, Healers, and the select high-DPS versatile skills listed above.

Hope this is of some help!

I'd legit consider spending mythril on either of these if they were offered.

Actually, a monthly Wardrobe Record gacha that cost Greens or Gil would be pretty awesome.

Anyways, two things that dawned on me as I began working through the latest DU:

1) With orbfest coming its a good time to deliberately stall at 4 stamina shared and save the cheapest-stamina dungeon for a mini-refresh

2) During the JP 2nd anniversary they halved the cost of all story dungeons. If you aren't in urgent need of more mythril or orbs then it may be worthwhile to min-max by saving the non-stamina-shard dungeons until then.

I figure the Nemesis and Diff200+ dungeons will be the time to start spending these thousands of Major Orbs and hundreds of Crystals/Motes.

What's the upcoming bottleneck for Majors based on what JP has received? For a while everything needed Power, then Wind, then Black had a resurgence. Is Dark the new coveted drop?

I'm torn on the Celerity Nightmare. Choosing to pull here would not impact OSBFest, XIV-1, XIII-2, or Tactics planning, but would put a dent in the nest egg reserved for 2nd Anniversary banners. It's a tough choice between hoping to add coverage on more characters and realms, versus saving for pulls on gear I'd use for Diff 200+ bosses.

Pros:
7/9 OSB/BSB are for characters for whom I have only default SBs.
10/16 SSB are for characters for whom I have only default SBs
2 BSB and 2 SSB would be upgrades over current SSB/SBs
14/25 relics are for realms in which I have poor physical RS (II, IV, VII, X, XII, XIV)
A strong Thief relic would give reason to create Mug Bloodlust

Cons:
Full-Price
Power Creep is Getting Steep (Torment, etc)
4 Dupes (albeit 2 would be useful dupes due to weak RS)

Would appreciate an outside perspective!

The OSB Fest banners are a tough call when I consider my needs/wants and existing relics:

B1 - 4 great items, 2 very good, 1 ok, and 2 dupes (Tiara, Thyrus)
B2 - 5 great items, 3 very good, and 1 dupe (SG)
B3 - 5 great items, 4 very good
B4 - 2 great items, 2 very good, 4 ok, and 1 dupe (Ninurta)
B5 - 1 great item, 3 very good, 4 ok, and 1 dupe (Onion Gauntlets)

Right now I'm leaning towards 1 pull on B1 and B2, and up to 2 pulls on B3. So yeah, if I pull on the Celerity Lucky it will just be one 11x, and then cross my fingers at least 1 of the non-dupes.

Edit: Reddit search isn't working well at the moment, and I was wondering what the current split was between O/BSB, SSB, Unique, and off-banner for standard event banners, and what a reasonable split for the OSB Fest might be.

For standard banners at this time it's 1%~ per OSB/BSB/Unique, and 2%~ per SSB, with a very low chance of off-banner yea?

For the festival would you expect 1% for each of the 4 OSB/BSB and 2% for each of the SSB/Unique? I presume it's impossible to know until some data is collected?
