Some people are really angry. A guy was yelling at a bot for not tagging a capture point when it was last left fighting off all of the other team. When this was pointed out at him he just called us all worthless idiots and quit. vv

Has anyone else noticed that this game has friendly fire? You can't damage your own team but you can certainly hit them and cause hitstun, even parry their attacks if they're too close. Considering how crowded 4v4 gets, that really should be looked at before release.

How the gently caress do you type in all-chat? Pressing T just brings up team-chat. I had this one loving ridiculous opponent in 2v2. It was just me and him, and he refused to close the distance with me. Every time I approached, he'd run off. He was a faster character, so he'd zip in and attack me and it was just stupid. I wanted to message and say "Really, man?". He was abusing his speed the entire game, for all 3 of our rematches. He'd just run off and become uncatchable, even if it was 2v1. He'd eventually kill one of us off by doing this and then kill the other. It's hard to kill him when he just outdodges everything, it's an easy move that he never failed to spam (his dodge would immediately take him out of range of all attacks). Whereas with us, we actively had to parry / block / dodge his attacks (our dodge lengths are so much shorter). It was just bullshit.

Game is fun but has serious connectivity problems. It seems to all be running on peer to peer, and about 50% of the time when you queue for 4v4 you get stuck in a lobby and it just spins its wheels forever, you have to alt F4 out of the game. This same kind of poo poo is what made me stop playing Rainbow Six, almost the exact same issues with totally busted matchmaking. I know this is a beta test but with the game launching in two weeks and a track record of being awful, Ubisoft doesn't exactly deserve the benefit of the doubt here. I'm seeing some people saying this is a persistent issue from previous tests as well, which is does not inspire optimism. Real shame considering the game seems otherwise pretty great. Yeah I recently graduated to 4v4 PvP and the lag is terrible. Nothing worse than coming close to winning a 1v2 and disconnecting right before lopping some scrub's head off. There's a lot of really cool stuff going on in this game but between *ubisoft* and the high price ($80 Canadian) it's probably gonna be a sad "nope".

In particular the combat revolves completely around stances-- a top, left, and right stance. On a controller you change stances with the R stick by pushing in the direction of the stance and it feels very natural. On KBAM you change stances with mouse gestures and I wanted nothing to do with it.

It looks to be some kind of bug where the lobby doesn't understand something's off and won't get into a game. I don't think it has anything to do with peering. It looks like there was a live patch earlier that fixed this for the most part. Network seems to be behaving all sorts of weird. Previous tests didn't have nearly the amount of people that the closed beta has, so things going crazy isn't too surprising. That's what a mass beta test is for after all.

Game is overall ok. Control scheme and combat style is....I guess the best you can do with digital input but overall feels clunky as gently caress. So while it'll be fun for this weekend it's definitely not 60 dollars worth of fun. Not to mention it looks like they've got some micro-transaction fun going on.

This game looks very cool but it feels inevitable that half the players are just going to find whatever class and tactics are the most exploitable/un-counterable, and abuse them against anyone who tries to play any differently. Due to the style of game this is, it feels like that will be a lot more harmful than, say, people finding the most overpowered weapon in an FPS with a low TTK. You can still kill people with a bad gun, but it seems likely that abuse in this game is going to mean "conform to the same playstyle/class or lose."

Yeah anytime I run into a decently played one the best I can really do is smash on heavy attacks and hope I luck into hitting something she's not guarding because I can definitely not keep up with her speed. But that's why I play Raider and Conqueror.

There's enough depth to the game as far as I keep finding out that there is not going to be anything to exploit or be "uncounterable". You can, and will get wrecked if you are ignorant of what another class can do and just mash away, but its on you to learn. I have been doing a bunch of dueling and each time I run into something I lose to, I head to practice for a minute to see that classes options and what it was and then I don't get hosed by it again. Also way too many people just wanna block everything, certain moves just have to be straight up dodged like the shield class rush moves.

I notice in For Honor, people who were clearly in previous tests will fight you as long as they keep on winning, but the moment you figure out how to counterplay them and drop them 3-0 all of a sudden they don't wanna play no more. Anyways, so I'm basically poop socking Orochi to be the very best that ever was. I've only been doing duels so far because I want get a solid grasp on the game's combat mechanics in a more or less controlled environment. So in order of scrubs I played against what I managed to surmise. Warden - This was an incredibly easy set of fights, after 3-0ing the guy twice he called it quits. This is likely due to the fact that I've been practicing all the game's basic mechanics on a Warden AI for about 3 hours, so I was pretty used to the moveset and how to counter it. In general I find the Warden to be really easy to play against; the Warden's quick attacks are slow enough that they're easy to deflect and punish with my quick counter, and if I manage to catch a deflection at the end of a heavy attack combo the heavy counter almost always ends the fight. Though I would imagine a Warden who can punish me with good GBs into wall stuns into a heavy combo could gently caress me up pretty hard. Warlord- First few fights I got caught off guard by his superarmor, and this was clearly an experienced player. His superarmor was really tough to deal with because if I try to counter a chain with SA his heavy attack will go through my counter (despite taking damage). That being said he was fighting very aggressively, and once I paced myself better and only went for the counters at the end of his combos or on light attacks I started dropping him very reliably. I also found that in general it more effective to go for dodges + light attacks, than for actual counters. Peacekeeper- The warlord player switched to this guy and I also faced like 4 other players playing him. Well gently caress. This guy had me in a stuffy for a while. The Warlord player basically kicked my rear end as Peacekeeper for about 5 matches by spamming light attack and switching up his combo. First my over-reliance on dodging was very obvious here since AFAIK it's impossible to dodge the follow up quick attacks. I eventually got decent enough to reliably block him, but he would the just immediatly block my attack and go back to his spam. I tried to parry him, but I found it too difficult to adjust the defense and heavy attack in the short span of his quick attacks (maybe it's easier on M&KB?). Anyways, the trick I found to this after I block him to immediately go for a guard break and then a double up light attacks. I honestly haven't used them much until now, and it took me a while to get into the rhythm of things, and he started catching on to the plan, but being able to also mix in a few heavies to punish his GB attempts won me a few matches and after a 3-0 round he quit. Most of the other players I played weren't as aggressive with him; I found a few of them constantly spamming the guard button in different directions to always keep it up, a fun trick I developed against these people is to attack where their guard currently is as they will likely move it right before the attack. The best one made ample use of guard breaks and shivving me, that one took me a while to start beating; I basically had to learn how to keep him at range, since AFAIK GBs take longer to connect the further you are, it gave me more time to punish with a light attack. Though in general I find the fact that you're basically not allowed to dodge against these fucks to be annoying. Conqueror- Had only one round against this guy, lost 2-3 with almost no HP on the guy left every time. I haven't figured out how to reliably deal with him yet. The player made very good use of guard breaks, and GB counters. Also I'm honestly still not sure how the shield mechanic works, but it was pretty impossible to break through his defense. Almost all of my damage came from my own GBs and dodge punishing his occasional whiffed attack. If anyone has advice about how to drop him I'm all ears.

The two big things about conqueror is 1) their blocks always count as parry's regardless of your attack and 2) if conqueror holds down on analog, it blocks all attacks from all angles regardless and takes a hit to stamina. This is the class I initially had the most trouble with but you gotta make liberal use of guard breaks. It helps to be a class that can get something decent off the break but not 100% necessary.

Thanks lads, I can't wait to start trash talking people who use blatantly exploitative tactics. Game's no fun when you spend 90% of the time running away from me and only coming in for sneaky attacks to whittle my health down. I either have to stop giving chase and try my luck at blocking all your insanely fast attacks, or I try and get a lucky guard break on you and throw you off a fookin cliff. Had a Berserker that just kept running away from me and my teammate every time, but the minute we engaged with his partner, he'd come in with some sick light attacks and it'd just gently caress our poo poo up. Second he sees us target him and attempt to get within attack range, he zips off again.

If your class has speed its pretty much your job to use it. Although 2vs2 fights seem kind of bullshit to me in general. Everyone tries to execute a quick 2vs1 gank and then the remaining player is screwed or all for players catch up and than its a mess where everybody is swinging wildly and its impossible to tell what's going on.
