My job lets us payroll deduct to a bunch of organizations, so I just pledged $130 to RAINN over the next year (along with some more money for Planned Parenthood, the Trevor Project, the SPLC, and a couple local groups). I wouldn't have thought to put them in my donation list if not for this thread.

Years ago a friend of mine was in deep financial trouble. I paid her rent and told her "Make me the last person you pay back." After repairing her career and digging out from under a mountain of credit card debt she paid part of it back last week, $250. She did all this while working and going to school to finish her degree. I gave the money without any expectation of getting it back so it was a nice surprise. I'm so proud of her. I received an email this morning that RAINN is matching donations.
