Random gameplay questions:

What determines when opponents can use abilities? Some rounds they do, some rounds they don't, some rounds they use the same ability twice. But they're not playing the board like the player does, so how's this work?

Does the bonus damage done with a Final Blow *do* anything, or is it just graphical cruft?
