The anime definitely won't cover it but it's an interesting idea that the comic might touch again in the future.

So it's Mr. T?

Somehow I got it into my head that this was "Like Sliders - but with samurai" and thought that premise was worthy of at least watching the first episode.

so I immediately watched the second episode and queued the next two for later today

drifters seem to have still had hope up to the instant they would have died while ends are full of despair and hate everything. i dunno where the super powers ends get come into it, though.

but yeah, it is probably a lot easier to keep hope for the future when you are trying to survive than during a public execution.

they are there so the drifters don't all wander around on their own, unable to communicate. the story needed something to fill that role, and magicians do it well enough.

Looking professional when committing genocide is essential. This is mostly achieved by using a beret.

Olive drab colour ensures the genocider will remain hidden from his prey until it's too late for them to do anything.

Ends get weird superpowers but they have to willingly submit to the goth girl whereas drifters get fuckall but can do whatever they want.

At least that's how I understand it.

Is there any pattern to the episode names? Feel like I read somewhere that they're all musical references, but I don't recognise anything beyond Men of Destiny being a Gundam OP. Maybe Footsteps being a frequently used insert song in City Hunter, if they're going in that direction.

They're all classic anime OPs. This one was particularly famous - Ai wo Torimodose, from Fist of the North Star.

The Japanese Wiki entry has all the chapter titles, which is where the episode titles are taken from https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%89%E3%83%AA%E3%83%95%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC%E3%82%BA_(%E6%BC%AB%E7%94%BB)#.E5.8D.98.E8.A1.8C.E6.9C.AC

I forget the fancy term, but when Jesus was nailed to the cross, well, nails through the hands. They left scars, when he showed to at least one of the apostles when he came back after dying.

I know now though! Makes me pretty hype

So the Manga has been going for like 5 years right? And the pvs showed material up to recent Manga updates? So, is the point we're at ~halfway through the manga? Did they cut a lot of material, or is the Manga actually just that slow? It doesn't feel like a ton has happened, for 2.5 years of manga progress

Maybe I'm just unfamiliar with manga pacing since I almost never read them

Author is notorious for inconsistent updates, especially compared to his peers. Honestly the pacing to me seems very similar to Hellsing's pacing. Where the whole of things is very brief but the time it takes to get there is a while. Yes the pacing is a bit slow, like this entire arc of them holding an elf revolt will go on for a good while until the next big arc comes along. I think at this point of the manga at the very latest issue, it is at the beginning of the third arc. Should this season stay in the 11-13 ep length, I'm positive that they'll either kick up the pace to catch up to the manga or will probably finish before they even get there.

I feel like now that they've started dropping the completely unsubtle hints I can say this:

It's a story by the dude that did Hellsing that includes a lot of real world historical figures, of course the main villain is Jesus.
