The show just made reference to time not working right. I think it was actually talking about "broadcast time" how something happening "yesterday" in the show took place last week for us. If that was what they were getting at that is absolutely hilarious.

I didn't even think of that but yeah, that's clever.

I suppose it's possible but seems pretty clever for the writing on this show. Dana asked Brianna how long she thought it had been since everything started happening. Brianna said about 3 months. Dana said 10 days. That was the 8th episode, so Dana's close on "show" time. The first episode aired Sept. 27 making the last episode about 1-2 weeks short of 3 months.

I think it's more likely just another kind of disaster they threw in, time moving faster or slower in different areas. Maybe the religious cult living like it was the 1800s where she found Devon was supposed be a hint at something being wrong with time.

More importantly though, did Dana pull a "deal with it" move putting on her mom's sunglasses when she was arguing with Brianna? Because it sure looked that way.

Episode 1x9 The Barbarous King

The Copelands are accosted by a gang of bikers led by a figure from Karen's past. Later, it's hard to know who to trust when shapeshifters appear.

How did this show get 13 episodes? I've seen a few hints on what happens tonight, and I think the end of last week's episode hinting at it too, but I'm kind of excited for what might go down this evening.

Whoops, yup you were right. Not that the episode description/name actually spoiled anything fortunately. The official descriptions from the show have been totally vague which I appreciate. They really are going full on with trying to keep weird stuff a surprise. On Syfy.com though they will be like, "in episode 2 you will see a cult and a dragon and..." totally giving everything away.

Yeah they definitely seem to going for this kind of vibe.

Show's ability to turn dark, darker, darkest still is pretty impressive considering the outlandish backdrop going on. Guess it's still internally consistent though.

I'm still super enjoying this show. It's bonkers as all get out, and I don't know how much life it can have in it until it starts to develop some actual long term goals with its characters (or maybe they're just not apparent yet?) but it's fun as gently caress.

That said, the fact that it doesn't have too many long term plots in mind means that it won't be quite as painful if this is cancelled.

Syfy's in the process of renewing pretty much everything right now, but this one strikes me as a long shot as well, unfortunately.

I also get the sense that they're not super happy with Blood Drive, given that it was commissioned straight to series before this show and looks to be airing after The Magicians and The Expanse have started to air.

(I'm also excited for the Grant Morrison project they've got in the pipeline. Morrison's going to be writing it, and Chris Meloni's starring).

I kind of felt that this show never had great chances at renewal and the viewership is not very strong. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aftermath_(2016_TV_series)#Episodes However, surprisingly the numbers have been pretty consistent.

I just looked up 12 Monkeys and I am shocked how low the viewership is and that got a 3rd season... actually I just checked out what I could on all the current shows and Aftermath is pretty solidly in the same range. I don't think it has been getting a lot of critical praise though, so it might be a total toss up on what happens with it. I'd love a second season just to see how they keep making things more and more crazy.

I'm still not totally sure why I continue watching this show. I'm not really a fan and I kind of just get myself through the episodes. I think I'm just watching to see what they do in the finale. They're going to have to go some crazy way to stretch this show out and flesh out "the wave" and "you're one of them" stuff beyond just "random mythological stuff happens." Whether its interesting or not will make or break whether I come back for a second season (presuming there is one).

I like it more as a Doomsday Preppers meets Wizard of Oz, with crazy poo poo happening every week. If they try to weave an overarching story out of it I don't think it will work unless they have something clever up their sleeve. The family always seem to be on the verge of discovering something important about what is going on and then the show drops it.

Only just discovered this, I like it it's fun. At first I thought it was going to be based on these books which I haven't read but no.

It's the same type of enjoyment I get out of watching The Last Ship. Show has a unique feel - bits and pieces of other shows are in there but it's all mixed together in a way that makes it feel unlike anything else I've watched. It's just enough this side of dark without wallowing in the misery depression porn of TWD, and it's just enough this side of bonkers without going too far into the zany campy self-awareness of Zombie Nation. There are some very cheesy moments but it isn't layered on as thick as The Last Ship.

I dunno, it's rough around the edges now but I think it could grow into quite the respectable little hidden-diamond type show if it gets more seasons and the writers don't lose whatever it is they're channelling. There's potential here for it to be the next candidate for "let's annoy everyone in the couch thread to watch this niche poo poo" :getin:

A suggestion for the characters: Find a technobabble way to utilise that black hole to hoover up the moon rocks before they hit earth.

I totally was digging Josh just wandering around town mumbling to himself though. I'd watch that for a whole season.

Yeah, show sets up these little scenarios really well. Could almost work as just vignettes from the apocalypse(s) with no real over-arching anything.

For a minute I thought Moondog was going to be Josh from another point in time. The plot has still thickened though.

I am sad they killed both the FDEM agents. It would have been cool if the younger less crazy one survived and went on to keep trying to figure out some continuity of government plans. The idea of all these low level remnants of government working together to help people would be a nice twist on the usual GUBMENT BAD plots.

1x13 Whispers of Immortality
The end of the world has arrived, and the Copelands must use every ally and every bit of knowledge they possess to survive.

I don't even need to spoiler tag this sucker. The moon's falling out of the sky Seveneves style, everything until now has been bad, but this is worse. Will the Copelands survive? Will they get another season? Is Moondog Matt? What is an adept (and seems to make the Copelands special)? What does "The One are Many and the Many are One" mean? All of this and more will probably be mentioned but may or may not be answered!

This show has absolutely grown on me, and I hope the will exists to give it a second season, just to see how crazy things get. If it doesn't get renewed, there are kids out there watching this late at night who in 20 years will tell their friends about this batshit tv show they half remember watching and no one will believe them.

Speaking of ADR, it really looked like as filmed. the ending was either a little more vague or they really killed her off. Seeing as how all the lines of everyone talking about how they still have time to rescue her were all said from off screen.

The gravity wave thing was pretty interesting and a solid way to tie it all together. Like they veered into actual (if nominal) science and stuff.

Overall it was satisfying imo and a different take on the genre. Hope it comes back for more. They could probably run in a bunch of different directions with it after that set-up.

It was odd, but they absolutely set up the ability to rescue her based on the Seattle story line earlier.

I am very pleasantly surprised with how well they tied the story together. That said, isn't everywhere else hosed? I mean, they sucked up the localized chunks, but more than that was raining down. A size rock that big hitting on the other side of the planet is still an earth wide extinction level event.
