I'm pretty interested in seeing this - is Mikkelsen well utilised, or is he wasted? I dream of the world where Hannibal just straight up eats the avengers one by one.

just walked out of this, really liked it. that ending gambit was unexpected. Cumberbatch's accent wasn't bad at all and those effects were stellar. waste of Mikkelsen, sadly.

Yeah, if you have wifi you probably know who Beyonce is. This is not a big deal or ever worth talking about further than mentioning that it's a weird joke. The joke I did like was Wong finally laughing at Strange, but only after he becomes his boss. Nice payoff on 'did they work for you?'

They weren't criticizing his motivation or discipline, but rather his ego. He was not just world-class, he was world famous. Remember the scenes of him picking only the famous, risky cases?

So is he Supreme or not? I guess that's something they'll save for the inevitable sequel. I bet they can't wait to show a whole stack of Inter dimensional counterpart.

Well yeah, he's been there less time than Mordo, Wong, one handed dude and a bunch of others.

The way I took it was that she didn't give a poo poo about him healing his hands. The hands didn't matter for magic (hence the amputee monk) - she knew he could be a grade-A magic dude and pushed him to follow that, rather than returning to his old life.

You're not wrong that it's formulaic, but I'm not sure that I count 'formulaic' as a negative - the formula works and provides a good base for the performances, effects and visual. How would you've changed the makeup of the film to be more unique?

I think that, in a vacuum, this film would probably be better-considered - origin fatigue is very much a real phenomenon. That being said, there's no vacuum, least of al CineD. Interesting seeing how pumped people are at the character moments, like the remorse after he kills that cultist, or when he looks at his hands at the end. It's relatively minor moments like those that these types of film so badly need.

I wouldn't be surprised if he had hands on that part, too. Dude loves moments like that. Honestly the movie is right up his alley - it firmly checks a lot of the Joseph Campbell boxes he's obsessed with.

The accent thing is crazy to me - a huge part of the actor's popularity is his crazy voice.mary had a little clam posted:NO reason to make him do a lifeless American accent and I thought it really detracted from all his quips and wit. Cumberbatch is a fantastic cocky prick in Sherlock and would translate so well to Strange, but they made him strip all the poetry out of his voice. I'm sure it's some "B-b-but in the comics he was American!" nonsense, but his American-ness has nothing to do with the plot and the accent ruined her performance, so they should've made a different choice. I'm no comic book expert, but no one liked Dr. Strange enough to care if he was English in the film. He's always been less popular than others - easily below Daredevil or Iron Man, before their recent adaptations. The care factor would be below Black Nick Fury, below Tall Wolverine, below Dead CIA Jimmy Olsen and probably below whatever happens on Agents Of Shield. Ragnarok got me hyped because of Waititi's involvement - What We Do In The Shadows is one of my favourite comedy movies. Check out his reddit ama - he's got big plans and none of them seem to involve the average films that Ragnarok succeeds. It's hard to see what he's joking about, but: quote:Jeez. I better see Winter Soldier... no joke. quote:I made an effort to ignore the fact there are other Thor films. When asked 'How difficult was it to fit your vision for Thor: Ragnarok into the existing continuity of the MCU?' quote:I didn't bother trying. well why not fucked around with this message at 16:56 on Nov 14, 2016 |

The issue is now that Dormammu is more memorable and recent. No one really knows what Thanos is about. He's barely in these movies. They should just mush the two together.

Like 12 movies in and I still don't know what he wants. I get that the stones are powerful, but what are they for? Does he hate Asgard or something? It's not really tangible what his goals are.

I'm pretty critical of comics (and warren ellis) and thought nextwave was pretty fun. It is kind of out-there, but almost everything in it is preceded by, or drawn from, something that already exists in Marvel comics. The self-satirising tone definitely was a breath of fresh air at the time - Civil War was happening and everything was just too serious to believe. I'd guarantee that James Gunn read Nextwave before or during making Guardians.

Mordo is kind of realistic in that way - the #2 guy is almost always a bigger believer than the leader of a group.

I really wish his role in Dr. Strange was bigger. He's so wasted in small roles. Hannibal is easily one of my favourite TV shows ever, and the time you spend with his creepy Dr. Lecter is a big part of why it works. I think his role in Rogue One is going to be pretty brief, too. Such a missed opportunity, but I guess that's just how Hollywood works for an actor with a weird accent.
